Question about Samson Servo 120 Amplifier

Open Question

I have a Samson Servo 120 Stereo Amplifier, which has served me well in my home recording studio for the past 10 years. Just recently I noticed a fair bit of crackling noise coming from my left speaker. I then realised that the sound quality from the speaker was quite poor in comparison withe the right speaker - thin sound and almost no bass response. I swapped the speakers round to check if was the speaker but the problem was now apparent in the right speaker. I even bypassed my mixer (to eliminate other equipment) and fed the Samson directly from a CD player - again the left channel was not as clear/good as the right. So I guess there is something wrong with the Samson itself - does it sound like something I can fix myself or is the unit likely to be BER?

Hello, my Samson Servo 200 has a problem, when I push the Power-ON button, the Protection Modus don' t started.

You have lost a circuit. this is a problem that you can not fix yourself.

Check to see where the nearest "AUTHORIZED" service center is.

Do NOT take it to Joe Schmoe stereo repair!

Use ONLY an "AUTHORIZED" repair center!

Going anywhere else could result in YOU replacing your unit!

Hi, i have been suggested first a Samson servo 600, then a sx1200 is there a difference between the 2? is one better than the other?

the servo series is geared more towards studio applications and/or installs, while the sx series are geared for live pa applications. the servo 600 is 300 watts per channel @ 4 ohm, and the sx1200 is 450 watts per channel at 4 ohms. the sx amp can also be bridged over to mono mode, where it puts out, i think, 1100 watts mono.

the only variable i havent been able to cover is sound quality, and im not seeing those listings in the specs on the samson website
