SOURCE: changed router to airport extreme - no connection
bayoubill:
I am sure that Airports are WPA compatible. You manually put in the key of WPA or WPA2 in the router itself (in your case since you changed the router so please put in the key onto your aiport) make sure that this key matches the key onto the clients workstations or laptops.
Let me know.
Thanks
SOURCE: wireless secured network key code
Hi BabyDoll - to find your key, log in to your router. Enter 192.168.0.1 into your browser. If the defaults haven't been changed, the user is " admin" all small case without the quotes. There is no password. Just enter the user and leave the password blank. To get the key, click on the wireless button on the left. Then look down the page and you'll see the passcode fields. This is what you're looking for. Also take notice of what's above it such as WPA, WEP, etc. Write this info down. You can also go into your pcs that you use wireless on and put that key in and the kind of security (WPA, etc) so that it will not ask for it every time.
If this solves your problem PLEASE rate this as fixed. If not, DON'T RATE YET. Let me know what happened and I'll be happy to assist you further. If you need to know how to enter the info so that you won't have to enter it all the time let me know. I'll help you with that. Let me know what happens. Thanks.

for reseting the password of ur dlink router u have to press the rest button on the dlink router (genrallyit on the bottom or on the back of the router it is like a hole u have to use a pen or pin to reset the router back to its factory default settings after that password of the router will automatically back to admin or password login to ur router change the settings to static ip in the router so that u can provide the static ip of the other router to ur this router (example if primary router HL 2170 ip address is 192.168.1.1 then u will provide this dlink router the ip address as 192.168.1.5, subnet 255.255.255.0 default gateway 192.168.1.1 primary dns 192.168.1.1 now save the settings in the dlink router now the ethernet cable from ur other router will go directly in to the internetor wan port of this router. now connect wirelessly to any router both will work fine without any problem

How I have solved my problem with the wired computer to a DIR-635 router:
- downloaded latest firmware from ftp.dlink.de/dir-635/driver_software (as posted here before)
- reset the router ( keep just the power cable connected to the router, press the reset button and switch off/on while holding the reset button pressed, off/on again with reset pushed down, release reset button, connect LAN cable between PC and router, access router 192.168.0.1 and all the configuration using the wizards)
- while configurating your Internet connection (I have the wizard option) it is important to use the option "clone MAC address from your PC", the one you used to connect direct to the cable modem.
- Follow next common steps to configurate your wireless network, etc.
Right now I'm having my PC wired to the router plus three other desktops via wireless and a wireless Canon printer.
Everything is working fine, no network drop, no internet drop. Perfect as it used to be.

I had the same problem.
Make sure you turn off all the security with the software in package then slowly turn it all back on, on piece at a time. For whatever reason, it comes with MAC address filtering already turned on, which makes it impossible to see if you don't have the right info put in to the computer that the router was configured with.
