My refrigerator works but the freezer will not freeze liquids. The ice maker works sometimes. What could be the problem.

Classic symptoms of a fridge that needs a refrigerant gas top up. You will need a service call.

based on how my icecream maker works
the two plastic cup looking containers are placed in a freezer without anything in them
leave overnight for about 8 hours
then take out of freezer and put ice cream recipe - liquid stuff
then ice creea maker churns liquid and freezes liquid from cold previously frozen plastic cup thing.
turn on churn function first before adding liquid stuff or it freezes too quick.
once it is churned to ice cream put it into a contain and place container in freezer
Ice cream is basically cream, sugar or sweetened condensed milk and flavor (artifical flavoring or by adding fruit puree or cocoa or choc chips)

try this ,in the back of freezer there is a tube that feeds ice maker sometimes it freezes up aim a hair dryer at the tube for 5 to 10 mins ,not to close or it will melt

Its defrost assembly parts issue or the compressor is getting waek indication.

It can be issue with water valve its clogged and not letting the water to stop running and that is causing the overflow of water and that is getting freezed and then clogged.

The sensor is got faulty,which triggers the alarm or its wiring is got loose.Also see if the freezer or fridge component got over freezed with ice modules.

Most refrigerators today are ice maker ready. If the plugs that were installed in the cabinet and freezer compartment that are used to plug the "ice-maker ready" holes are removed, then moisture seeks it's way into the freezer and freezes.

You will need to replace the plugs to prevent this from happening. Do not use tape to cover the holes as most tapes are not watertite. You should be bale to find replacement plugs at your nearest home center, or from the manufacturer of the refrigerator.
