Try turning off the caption through the remote of the menu. to reset it to factory settings, go to menu, then settings, then there should be an option to reset the tv. If this doesn't work look through your manual. Sometimes you have to hold the power button for some length of time or the menu button on the tv. if these methods don't work, tell me the model and make of the tv.

I can't turn off closed captions please help

Hello

There is only one way, and that is to unlock the closed caption feature by entering the code. By entering the code you have set to lock closed caption you can set it off. If you have forgotten the password you have entered, do the folloing ot unlock your TV, and then reset all the features later.

if you ever forget your

code, the 0, 7, 1, 1 code is the factory

default and can be used to

enter and create a new access
code.

After unlocking the code you have to reset all the settings again if you wants.
OK.

Closed caption will not turn off in any menu options.

Leave it off unplugged from the mains overnight. This should reset the TV to factory settings removing the closed caption problem.

If this fails you should be able to find factory reset in the set up menu.

Good luck!

Black box on screen covering the picture

This is a box for text, such as closed captioning or demonstration mode. Go into your setup menu and turn off closed captioning or return to factory settings.

Closed captioning

I experienced the same problem for about an hour before recognizing that the "continuous on" closed captioning had been activated on my cable box, not the TV. The signal feeds through despite the CC settings on the TV. If you haven't already, try checking the CC settings on whatever device is supplying your video.

Can't shut off closed caption

I have the JVC I Art 46" TV. The Close Caption was turn on accidentally by my grandson. After lots of searching for the original remote. I called JVC Customer Support. He told me to change the Close Caption settings to CC2 and T1. That fixed the CC without having the original remote.
