Question about Aiwa AV-D58 Receiver

How to get audio from sony flat screen to the receiver

I am trying to figure out how to hook up audio from brand new sony Bravia flat screen to the Aiwa. The TV has both digita optical "out" and old fashioned left, right "out". The question is where to hook in to the back of the Aiwa?  thanks

If Aiwa Amp has digital input, just hook it. and if it doesn't have any digital input, hook olf fashione red and white at rear of Aiwa in Aux or Video input like that and other end will go to Monitor Out (red and white) in Bravia TV.

Sony Bravia audio out to get audio of TV mode to home theatre.

Most tvs the audio out is always on. Some tvs you have to go in the audio part of the tv menu and turn it on. Also if it is optical out you may have to assign the input of your receiver to an optical input. Need a little more info like home theatre brand and how you are running audio out of the tv to the receiver.

Have to turn way up in order to hear

Have you gone into the TV's menu to make sure that the audio outoput is not set to "variable"?

On my Sony I have the option to set the audio output as "fixed or "variable"

make sure its set to fixed

if that's not it try a different input on your receiver. you can use anything EXCEPT PHONO.

Lastly on my Denon receiver I have to specify how each input should get its signal if you are using an optical cable then you may have to go into the menu and tell it to look for a digital signal not an analog one.

Hope that helps

We have a Sony Bravia and we cannot figure out how

check your connections first, dont use these connections with many pins, make sure use of those coaxial cable connections. if you dont have an indication on tv. check your cable for cuttings between main conductor and outer screen. using a avo meter.

I have a brand new LG 50 plasma and a Bravia Sony surround sound system as well as a Cox Cable HD DVR box. I currently have it connected as such: HDMI from Bravia Sony System direct into TV HDMI from Cable...

you may have to set the input value on the bravia for optical on the input from the cable box. sometimes there is more than one way for a particular input to receive an audio signal, you may have rca(red and white), a black or orange rca type for digital, and then the optical. i would suspect you have to tell the bravia how the sound is inputed into the bravia. also , just a thought.... on the cable box there should be a volume control on the front of the box........ make sure the cable box volume is ALL the way up (it is the preamp volume).

Trouble hooking up sony components..Bravia, Home theatre, blu-ray

Got your post, I will work with the model #s. Get back with you soon. Also a tip for now: HDMI carries true digital video and audio so you may not need the optic cables.

Surround sound problems

you need an optical cable which it's sort of mentioned in the manual, but because of the multitude of possible ways to connect the TV to the sound surround, I did not figure out either.
I got my optical cable at BestBuy for about $45.00
