Make sure everything is plugged in correctly. also make sure that the input/source of your tv is correct. If all these don't work, then: 1. unplug both the tv and the ps3 2. plug them both back in 3. turn the tv on first make sure it is on the right hdmi source. 4. turn the ps3 on by holding down the power button for about 10 seconds until it beeps.

the ps3 start screen should show up now.

How can I change source resolution?

The source resolution is determined by your choice of connected video device. For example; If you are using the RCA jack cord that comes with every PS3, then your resolution will be very low, and you can't change it. If you are using the HDMI connection to a HD TV, then the system automatically selects the correct resolution ratio for the TV. (720-1080p) Also note, that going between watching a video, or blueray movie, and a game, most games have the ability to change the resolution automatically as well. An example of this, is watching NETFLIX. The system can detect 720p, then you begin to play a game (COD AW) it detects and changes to 1080p.

I'm connect my PS3 TO MY PROTRON 26 TELEVISION using a HDMI TO DVI cable.....When changing the source to DVI, the error "INVALID MODE" appears........Does this mean that it is not humanly...

Temporarily hook the Playstation up to another television and change the resolution in the display settings to 1080i and try again. If that does not work, try lowering the resolution again to 720p. If this set has component video input (Red, Green, Blue video cables) try that as well if possible. In fact, this may be the only way to hook this up and have it work in high definition because this set may not be HDCP compliant. You will have to check the owner's manual for its specifications. If all else fails you will have to use the composite (yellow) video cable to hook it up. It won't look pretty, but it should work. Good luck.

Can't hook up PS3 to JVC tv

You need to lower the video resolution output of the PS3, it is set too high for he TV to display, It should be set to the native resolution of the TV. Just Google 'PS3 VIDEO RESOLUTION'

I want to connect my playstation 3 to my hp vs15. But after doing a little bit of research i am asked to change my display mode in order to get video from my playstation 3. hence my question is how do...

You change the video resolution at the video source, in this case, your PS3, not at the monitor. VS 15 has 1024 x 768 60Hz Maximum Resolution, so your PS3 cannot be higher.
You need to google 'how to change PS3 video resolution' If the PS3 resolution is set to high, the VS15 will display Out of range/format/video not support.

Hooked up PS3 to Samsung HP-R4252 HDTV and games work great. Tried to play movie and can't find source, any ideas

You will need to download the converter program

'DPM Mode' coming from your display means that it isn't happy with the resolution it's seeing coming from the input (your DVD) and so the display goes to sleep.
Presumably you have its resolution set at 1280 x 768 for the Blu-Ray DVDs? In which case you need to try setting the monitor resolution to 720 x 480 before watching the standard DVDs. That may work, at any rate. If not... well, I'm stumped... Source(s): http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthrea…

2 possible solutions. The first one is the most important.

First go to the system menu, on the left.
then scroll down to display settings.
choose the first option
if you are displaying though a hdmi adaptor, click on hdmi
then click automatic.
store settings.

This will change the display resolution of the PS3 to the same as the source.

The second way, and probably better one if it works for you, is to upscale the DVD.

To do this, go to the settings menu
scroll to the DVD settings menu
choose DVD upscaler.
try different settings to see what works best on your TV, but try normal first.

If this one works then change the display settings to display the maximum res of your TV all the time.
Check the resolution of your display and the player. Put them in order so that the signal doesn't go beyond the resolution of the display.

If this doesn't work, check out the link below. Source(s): http://www.cnet.com.au/tvs/0,239035250,3…

I have a 50 in vizio plasma. just hooked up a psp3 for the blue ray, but the input only says 480. What gives? shouldn't this be 1080? I can't find an ajustment on the menu screen on my tv?

What you need to do is hook up your PS3 to a different tv. Then in Display setting on the PS3 change it to 480p. Hook it up to your vizio and while on the ps3, change it back to 1080p. Most Vizios don't have a Progressive scan that adjusts to the output settings of the PS3 (or other device) .

Resolution problem

you cannot fit a pint of water into a half pint glass... in other words you have the ps3 sending a picture that has too much information and resolution for the 720 display you are using.. use another connection method to hook up your ps3 to the tv or use a friends tv that has the higher resolution capabilities and then change the output option in your ps3 it will then work ok on your tv
