I have the exact same problem as Trouble Wife. Did anyone come up with a solution to get it to turn on?
I got this same tv from a guy in my area he would press the poewer botton on the tv and the standby light comes on and then turns off, so he gave me the tv for free i took the back panel off, and everytime i press the power botton the green light came on where the screen board is and went back off after i let the botton go i took the power board out took it to a repair shop to see if there was anything a wrong with it everything was good so i replaced the two fuses on the board and the one on the screen board, i had a feeling about the power switch so i jumped the wires on the switch purple to purple and green to green, I put it back together pluged it in the standby light came and stays on now, so i went out and got a universal remote for the sva at walmart for $15 programed it and pressto the tv works perfect so three fuses $3.60 two small pieces of wire and ele tape $0 my time 35 mins = one working plasma for $3.60 so when you have this problem like everyone else check the power botton switch, there cheap and check the fuses theres only three and if that dont work idk what to tell ya. and you do need a remote or tv wont work.
I fixed Mine ($30 pdp on ebay lol) 4 $8 bucks it turned out to be a bad smd diode(1Amp) and a shorted scr (I replaced with nte5406) by the red error led I'd suggest to look 4 shorted diodes not ones by transformers but the more isolated circuits. also a few bad samwha caps that read high voltage potential (hypot) between gnd and the body of the capacitor (although not uncommon but I replaced them it Just in case) shock hazard. IMO its is a poorly designed power supply that needs some retrace jumpers to correct some of the flaws and even afterwords still some bias noise in picture but its expected in such an old tv.
You Need a new Power Supply, part # LJ44-00025A
buy it here for $139 http://www.adc-ast.com/
I have my tv working like new.
If you want this time the power supply last, do not turn off, just
press tv/video button to switch input source, let the tv in sleep mode.

o all you frustrated TV owners, like myself. I am hearing all the complaints about Samsung part# LJ44-00025,
which sounds like it is a defective board. This part can range from
$140.00 to $500, depending on where you purchase it from. There are
some places that charge different depending on the brand, when the
parts are completely indentical. Therefore, I am taking ownership, or
willing to support someone, who has already started a claim against
Samsung, and including the companies, who placed this part in there
TV's.

hello ,yess i have the same problen.s u have to chage, the power suple, it in side
I got he TV from my boss he said that it would just click. I kept it on the floor for several days during Christmas and it cliked on and worked after that, now after i got it mounted on the wall it worked for two days and now just clicks on an no screen. I have a feeling it is either a relay or it could be the power board. i am going to dissasambe it and check for dust. Dust has a tricky way of shorting out circuit boards. I will let you know what I find.
I had the same problem 3 years old, and it was the power supply / board. Bought a new one online for $300 ?? (forget what I paid), had it shipped to me, and had someone install it for $100. Now after 9 months year the TV will come on, but after it warms up the pictures goes bye bye. Looking for a solution to this new problem.

thank you john & suzy fed up in n.h.
2nd TV ..as the first the picture would not come on, just sound!!! So with the history of this particular product I would recommend to just get rid of the old SVA and get a new tv. As the repair cost is out of sight and its just more economical to buy a new one since the price of these tv's have gone down over the years. My TV is only 4 years old so I just junked it.
