If you have a Garmin Lock on your nuvi, zumo or StreetPilot c500 series and you have forgotten your 4 digit PIN number you can unlock the device by returning to your Security Location. The Security Location is the location that you set when you first enabled the Garmin Lock on your device. Returning to the Security Location will unlock your device.
If you have forgotten your PIN and Security Location please contact Product Support for assistance. Please note we will require a copy of the receipt and there will be a charge to unlock the device as this issue is not covered by the warranty.
2:Touch the tools icon on the main screen. The tools icon is represented by a wrench surrounded by a blue circle.
3:Touch the "Settings" icon which appears as a wrench.
4:Push the "Restore" button at the bottom of the screen. A confirmation message will appear asking to confirm restoring the Nuvi to factory settings. Push yes to restore the factory settings ............................................................................................ Try this for hard reset .
Turn off Garmin device. Press down on bottom right corner of the touchscreen [ Don't let go ] , and then power on the GPS unit. You should be prompted whether do you really want to erase all user data, or asked if do you really want to start up in maintenance mode. Press “Yes” to reset (warning: all data will be erased and lost, so backup before proceeding) or enter maintenance mod.
You must have installed a PIN code when you first set it up. If you can't remember, then take it back to the security location and it will automatically unlock, and you can reset the PIN. If you purchased this privately rather than from a dealer, there is a chance it is stolen. The PIN is the security feature of Garmin GPSes.
It has to go back to garmin, the pin is written to non volatile memory, so a power interruption wont erase it. Garmin will reset it, if you are not the original owner and it is reported stolen Garmin will notify the police.
Basically the memory has to be flashed by garmin, sorry it is not what you want to hear, but don't dammage your gps trying to reset it by opening it up, that only voids the warranty and will cost you more money.
Hi I personally don't know the code, however you can visit www.garmin.com and there is a support area and you can also download manuals, its easy to use site and very helpful, there is a tech support area also and im very sure they can resolve this easy enough for you and get you up and running again.
You have to take your unit back to your Safe Location where you set your PIN number (usually your home). Otherwise, you'll have to send it to Garmin with the receipt to have it reset.
