My brand new 1.5 hp, 230/115 v pentair runs for several minutes, gets hot and then shuts off. (not tripping the breaker) ...wiring was already in place on previous 1.5 hp, 230/115 jacuzzi brand pump for years and we just used that wiring when we installed the new pump. Whats going on...it came from pre wired for 230 and is done according to the chart..

It is probably only getting 115V from your circuit which will cause it to overheat and trip the overload yet it will not draw high current which would trip the breaker. Can you confirm your line voltage with a meter? If it is suppoed to be a 230V line then look for a bad leg of power, again, checking each leg to ground using a meter.

My Pentair HP 900 pool heat pump runs for a little while (15-60 minutes) and then trips the breaker. Any idea why this is happening?

After 30 minutes of use, feel the outside of the breaker that is tripping. If you feel heat on the surface of the breaker it could be the breaker is going bad. Have an electrician change the breaker and have him check the load on the breaker. My guess is, if the heat pump seems to runs fine for an hour but is tripping a breaker then it is probably not the heat pump.

Vs pump trips breaker. single stage 1 1/2 pump works fine, does not trip

is motor getting hot if so need new motor also check to see if wires on the back of the motor are loose or the wires to the breaker loose if they are ok you need a new pump motor or pump sometimes a whole pump is cheaper than fixing the old one

I have a brand new 1 1/2 hp superflo. I wired it in and turned on the power, it hummed for a few secounds and trip the breaker. now it it wont work and just immediatly trips the breaker. Any ideas as

It sounds like the motor shaft is stuck. The back end of the motor has an end cap that comes off so you can access the end of the motor shaft. Try this with the power off; Remove the cap (center rear of the motor),Using an open ended 9/16 wrench you should be able to turn the shaft back and forth. A motor that has sat for a while will sometimes act like yours did. A nudge with the wrench usually breaks it free. Remove your wrench and turn pump on. If it still won't start the motor may be defective.

Water heater

Guessing that you have 240Volt residential non-simultaneous electric water heater? And that you have 30 amp breaker and 10 gauge wire. And that water heater is located within 100 feet of breaker box. And there are no leaks running hot water out of tank. And that you installed fully brand NEW elements of same wattage as old elements. And that fully brand new thermostats were installed, and wiring exactly duplicates wiring that was present before. And that factory-insulation was re-installed over elements and thermostats.

1) Guessing the 'hot water shut off' means the ECO red reset button located on upper thermostat keeps tripping and cutting off electric power to water heater?

2) If the ECO is tripping, then water is getting too hot, or there is shorted wire located near the upper thermostat, .
Typically replacing both thermostats and replacing elements will solve this problem .... assuming that new thermostats and elements are good, and wiring correct.
Double-Check your wiring on upper and lower thermostats.
Test wires for short.
Make sure factory-insulation is re-installed over thermostats so cool room temperature will not affect temperature reading.
Check that thermostats sit flat against steel tank.
Many short draws hot water can also cause stacking event that will trip circuit breaker.

3) Add comment and say what you find using checklist above.
Be careful to explain findings fully, using same words found on links above, so illuminated diagnosis can be made.

1 1/2 HP Pentair Pinnacle Pump keeps tripping the breaker. What would the problem be and how can I fix it?

The motor and/or electrical system is damaged and need to be repaired. With the breaker off, disconnect the motor and insulate the wire ends. Turn the breaker back on and it should remain closed without tripping. If so, it is ok and you can turn it off and leave it so until the motor is fixed or replaced.

Find a local electric motor repair shop and have them inspect the motor. It will likely have to be replaced but taking it to them insures it is not repairable and also makes sure the new one will fit correctly. A new motor and seal would likely run ~$150 or so.
