When the paper skews as it is grabbed by the rollers, the first simple thing to check for is whether a foreign object has fallen into the paper intake. This was the cause of skewing in my case. To check for this, unplug the printer, turn it upside down and shake it (while holding any movable parts, like the lid). You may hear something bumping around inside the machine, which is a sign to investigate further. In my case, the object (a shirt button) just dropped out.
There should be an access door on the back of the printer. If you open this you can check the rollers to see if they are damaged or have debris on them.
The rollers do not rotate freely because the are attached to the servo motor and gear train. That is as it should be,
There could be another problem and that has to do with the lift plate which lifts the paper to the rollers you cleaned but it is to difficult to check and I would advise you not to try.

I have taken off the rear access door and cleaned the rollers. These rollers do NOT rotate freely. The 3 paper feed rollers on the door DO rotate.
