I have a manual...
To clear margins and have do the following: depress the "return" key so the carriage returns to the left margin. Then depressed the "code" "tab clr" keys.
To set margins and tad do the following: clear your margins in tabs using the steps above. Depressed space bar until you reach the desired left margin. Depressed the "L. MAR" key... you're left margin is now set. Depress the "space bar" until you reach the first required tab stop. Depressed the "tab set" key... your first tab stop is now set. Repeat steps 4and 5 for each tab stop required on the writing line up 13 can be set on each line. Depress the spacebar to move the carriage to the desired right margin. Depressed the "r. mar" key. Finally depress the return key.

Brother LW-100

After a bit of research I was able to find a LW100. You throw me off track by saying that it's a "manual" typewriter, electronic typewriters that do NOT have memory are generally called manual. The LW100 is a mechanical typewriter. I am sorry to say that I do not know where to get a manual. But I might be able to help a little, All mechanical machines did not have "ribbon lift", if you know that the ribbon used to lift for each key strike then you would have a latching arm or a spring that is not doing it's job. People that use typewriters that DON'T lift the ribbon feature, have to resort to rotating the platen to see the paper. Best of luck to you, cheers (BTW, I was stationed at RAF Lakenheath for 3 years, and Loved it. I wish I never left there.)

I know this is a long shot, but I want to increase the amount of characters I am allowed on my Panasonic KX R200 electronic typewriter. As it was given to me secondhand, I am short of the manual, and am...

There should be a margin release key. It may say MAR REL or Be 2 vertical lines with arrows or a key with mar rel printed above it that requires the use of the code key. When you stop press MAR REL space to desired R. margin mlocation press R. MARGIN KEY.

I just baught a Panasonic KX-E4000 electronic typewriter that doesn't have a manual. Can you help me set the right and left margins. There is a 'code' key but no r margin or l margin.

Look again. I quarantee you somewhere on or around the keyboard there is a L MAR and a R MAR. I don't have a 4000 so I can't tell you exactly where When you find it, move the carrier to where you want the mar. set and push the appropriate key. If the carrier stops before you get to where you want to set the margin, hit the MAR REL key and use the SPACEBAR or BACKSPACE KEY to move the carrier to where you want it. If the L MAR and R MAR (and MAR REL) is printed on the case, hold the code button down and push the key under it. If R MAR is printed on the same key as the L MAR, use the code button. These instructions will set the margins on virtually every electronic typewriter ever made.
