You cannot use a DVD-RW disc on a Durabrand DVD player. It is not a compatible disc format. DVD-R discs that have been finalised (as well as shop-bought legal copies) are recommended for this player. As for video and audio bitrates, check out other forums on video to DVD converting and creation for more information. It is down to trial and error.

Shows unkown disc when i put in a burned dvd-r but it will play a store boughten disc what disc format is compadible with yhis unit

This model DVD player can play the following disc formats:

DVD-Video (Region 1 or relevant region coded store-bought movies)

DVD-R (must be finalised on appropriate recording equipment for compatible playback)

CD-R (for jpeg/mp3 media files)

CD-RW (for audio such as mp3)

music CD (such as store-bought albums)

This player will NOT accept DVD-RW/+RW discs, or Blu-Ray.

I hope this helps you a tiny bit.

I have a yamaha dvd-c750. I have just created a slideshow using iphoto on a Mac, burnt to a TDK DVD +R. Inserted into the DVD drive. Machine tries to load it. Gives a message "unknown disc"? ...

DVD players can be picky with the type of file format that they use. According to an amazon.com review of this player, it does read DVD+RW/+Rs & DVD-RW/Rs so the problem probably resides in your file format.

The problem is probably the fact that the DVD Player does not recognize the file format of your Mac slide show. The computer recognizes this format, as it plays the slide show. The DVD player recognizes JPG file formats, which is the standard format of a picture.

If a DVD is made with JPG Files, not your slide show files, it will display thumbnails of each picture, allowing the choice of what picture to view.

If the slide show is a must, try to save it to a video file format, such as a *.mpg or *.avi which are common video file formats. These files would be movies of the slide show that you have made.

My dvd player doesn't support wmv, avi, dat, mpeg, mp4 or 3gp. What should i do

This DVD player is supposed to support:

Supported Audio Formats Audio CD, MP3
Supported Video Formats DVD
Number of Audio Channels 4 Channels
Included Units In-Dash Player, In-Dash Monitor, Amplifier
Supported Media Types DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD-R, CD-RW
Monitor Size 6.5 inch
Touch Panel With Touch Panel

Just stick with these formats and it should work fine...are you trying to view burned movies or something. From the looks of it, it should play any DVD or CD just fine. Try to steer clear of those formats you listed.

I have no sound when playing my dvd+RW

Hei

Did you install the audio cable? If so, you could have a bad contact.. I'd try Kaffeine, that will play audio cds without an audio cable, so you know the drive is ok. so try this because this is the solution , from which i fixed my own prob .
