Check device manager if the Audio device is detected.

Check Audio device has mark like this ! - i suggest uninstall / reinstall the audio device driver. download the driver from dellsupport.com drivers and download page.

If the audio device has ? mark it means that computer not able to recognize the audio hardware. if you are using audio onboard replace motherboard. if the audio has expansion card reseat the card then try again. if all fails then try a different audio card if passed then the audio card is faulty. if all fails using a different audio card it means the motherboard slot is faulty. replace mobo.

Make sure that an audio device is connected to your computer. Then, if it still fails to connect, follow the tips below to fix:

1. Reinstall the sound card driver.
2. Run the playing audio troubleshooter.
3. Re-enable the sound adapter.
4. Check the Windows audio services are enabled.
5. Roll back Windows
6. Factory reset Windows.

By the way, if you want to record any audio from your computer and you can't get your microphone connected to your computer, you can use Leawo Music Recorder to record internal audio from computer, so that you can record and download music from any website for free.

Driver audio

o check, click windows start button, point to computer, click manage, then look for device manager. If you see an exclamation or "x" mark on your audio device this means that your audio driver is not properly installed.

Uninstall the audio driver then re-intall it again. visit www.hp.com/support and look for your audio driver if you dont have the cd installer.

Button for sound on my laptop dont work

The most likely causes for this is:
External Speakers not turned on. Turn them on...
Driver for the sound device isn't installed: If you see the little speaker icon down the bottom right hand corner of your screen (near the clock), your sound card device driver is working well.
If it is not visable, the sound card device driver may or may not be working. Go into the start button, select settings (if available), then control panel, Sounds and Audio Devices.
Select the Audio tab Ensure that you have a 'default device' set.
If you get any errors when going into the sound and audio devices tab stating that you have no audio devices installed, then its most likely a driver issue. In this case, refer to your local computer shop to have the audio drivers installed.

Driver for the keyboard sound function not installed or not running. Solution: Reboot then test it. Reinstall the driver, test it.
