Kenmore Elite 665.17053400. Powers up ok, fills up with water ok, but wash cycle won't start. I can hear the motor trying to turn but sounds like its seized up. If I cancel the wash, the machine drains out the water ok. Does this sound like the moter is shot and if so, what should I expect to pay to have it replaced?

pull shafe out it is likly broken to find out between timer and shaft look to see if timer move by itself and if it does sorry u have broken shaft

It is possible that the machine does not start off the cycle because there are errors due to feedback from the inputs. For the program to start up the main program controller must initiate the INLET/MOTOR/DRAIN pump/ valve to open up and allow each function to be driven starting from the flow of water into the drum as also the drain valve to open to exit the water at the point of the program cycle. If this does not happen then the voltage at the valve/motor/pump must be checked or the fault relates to no voltage from the controller. This means the controller is a suspect.

Its either in the lid switch or timer. Examine the lid switch. Try starting the wash cycle and press in on lid switch to make sure it activates. If the lid switch is good and you dont hear the motor trying to activate during wash than its in the timer. Does the timer advance? Please comment me back If you need further assistance.

Sounds like a problem with the main motor.

sounds like wash motor is not going . it will fill and control thinks motor is working . then it will drain wash water / ( drain pump is a different motor ) and then refill and so on .. never washes but fills and drains and heats. ( look for leakage under the motor i'm sure you will find some ..

sounds like ur coupler is bad easy fix 4 dollar part

do you hear any sound while stops??

like ticking sounds?

If the timer cycles your lid switch is ok.
most likely: motor Switch (on Motor), condenser next to motor, motor itself, or wiring going from the time to the switch,

It is probably cost efficient to replace the unit rather than trowing parts at it .
