Place your document in the scanner and choose a low resolution. Although scanners allow you to choose a high resolution, that feature is better suited for transferring photographs into your computer for editing. For documents, a resolution of 100 dpi (dots per inch) is a good choice.
Open your computer's Control Panel and select the "Scanners and Cameras" icon to open the scanner wizard. Follow the instructions to choose a location to save your scanned document. Create a new folder on your desktop, making it easy to locate the file later. Scan as many documents as needed to this folder.
Use your email account and create a new message, inserting your intended recipient's email address in the "Send to" field. You must type in the email address exactly.
Look at the top of your email window to find the "Insert" menu. When you click on it, a drop-down menu will appear, select the "Attach a File" option and choose the location of your document.
Highlight the desired document in the folder and double-click on it to attach it to your email message. Check to be sure the document attaches by looking for the file name in the "Attach" box above your text.
Repeat Steps 1 to 5 if you need to attach more documents. Send your email as usual.

canning functionality from the LJ3380 and
CLJ2840 series All-in-One devices may not function until the correct
Twain Data Source is selected by the user.
This can be done by attempting to scan from the foundation scan executable "hppscan2.exe
".
For the LJ3380 series this is located in C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\LJ3015_LJ3020_LJ3030_LJ3380->hppscan2.exe
For the CLJ2840 this is found in C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin->hppscan2.exe
When the "hppscan2.exe
" is launched from this location where it resides, a dialog box will open with a "Select Source
" box listing the installed Twain scanning devices available. If this
box is not seen, then there is only one Twain device installed.
In some instances user input is needed
to chose the "correct" Twain data source for scanning to be successful
from the LJ3380 and CLJ2840 series devices.
If the incorrect Twain data source is selected- an error "Cannot initialize device
" will be seen.
Greg,
Do you mean that when you want to send it by email it keeps attaching the file forever?
If yes then check the size of the scanned document. What happens is that the moment you attach a document to an email Windows start sending it to the email server and that takes time as uploading is slower than downloading. And if the file a large one as scanned documents can be, then it will take that much longer.
Try a smaller document first. Size wise small document. If that works fine then you can try larger documents. yes it may be time consuming but there is no price for mental satisfaction.
To reduce the size of the scanned document, reduce the pixels in settings of the scanner. or reduce the page size. You will find the document reduced many times over.
See if you can update your TWAIN compliant driver at www.twain.org... if you are using OCR (optical character recognition) software, you may want to first scan to a Word .doc (OCR tends to scan text in "clusters", like text-boxes, and your wordpad or email client may not recognize the multiple "boxes" of text...

Does the scanner displays any error message on the scanner panel? Is there any TWAIN error message?
If paper jam occurs, U1 error will be displayed on the scanner panel and TWAIN driver will display " Paper jam the ADF (Code DS32002)" error message.
This error is detected when one of the followings occurs:
1) A document does not reach the TOP sensor while the scanner has transported the document about 250 mm to pick. (The scanner performs retry operation.)
2) The trailing edge of a document does not reach the TOP sensor after the scanner transports the document by the length (L) below. (The document may have slipped on the rollers) Scan condition Transported length.
In order to assist you with your scanner issue, Please provide the issue details with error message.
If nothing is being displayed, then the issue could be due to failure in Pick Motor function or Pick Sensor malfunction.
