I have a Sony tv KDF50WE655, the other day while I was watching tv, heard a noise and the tv went off, displying the lamp red light..I ordered and replaced the lamp. I made sure the lamp is ok and the door is secure...now, when I turn it on...the fans in the back run momentarily..the green light in front goes on...then the fans stop and get the standby red light flashing 3 times on and off..any help will be appreciated...thanks

Please make sure lamp cover is fixed properly in its position after lamp replacement as it has to press a safety switch located nearby lamp cover.
3 times red blink problem is related with that lamp cover safety switch only.

Is is standby light blinking red or any other light? Let me know how many times red standby light blinking after three seconds long pause to provide you helpful info.
It seems pop sound was due to broken lamp, please check lamp inside tv and if it is broken, replace it to solve tv problem.

I heard a pop and screen wet black. red lamp
Lamp inside TV is broken and requires replacement. Pop sound was its breaking sound.
Lamp replacement procedure is written in user manual, pretty easy.
Please buy Sony original lamp for TV safety and avoid aftermarket/ cheap lamp.

No Picture, Power light Blinking 3 times then repeats
3 times blink shows lamp cover is removed or not installed properly on TV.
Please take out lamp inside TV and check, seems its broken as you heard loud pop.

If you have a Sony DLP, then the loud pop you heard is your lamp.  The lamps last approx. 4K-6K viewing hours.  Read your manual for replacement part number to reorder and very simple to replace yourself.

LAMP
Replace the lamp. In rare cases, the lamp power supply or lamp ballast may also need replacing. But, replace the lamp first, and use an original Sony lamp not a cheap aftermarket replacement. If this helps, please be sure to rate the fix! Thanks!
