Could you help me identify the STK ICs and their location?
I just acquired a Sony RPTV with serious convergence problems and was told a repairman said the parts were around $30.00 but the labor was $300.00. I don't have the $300.00, but will gladly buy the parts and fix it myself. Thanks for your help!

replace the two convergence ICs and also check the low ohm resistors and pico fuses. You can get the sony convergence repair kit for most sony models from www.tvrepairworld.com which has both ICs 4 of the resistors and all 8 pico fuses plus instructions for doing the repair.
This kind of problem occurs due to failure of convergence output ICs in Sony KP-51HW40 tv. Replace convergence output ICs to solve tv problem. This set uses two of the STK-392-570 IC chips for this (convergence problem) Local tv repairman will do this job if you have no experience of electronics stuff repair.
This problems also cause by the 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all it resistor are dead.Require changing the 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all it resistors will solved this fading out and shuting down.

replace the two convergence ICs and a couple 3.5 amp pico fuses. You need STK 392-560 convergence ICs. You can get replacment ICs and pico fuses at the following link. with free instalation instructions with pictures. http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/
Convergence ICs are bad it causes the red and/or blue to jump out of alignment making it look 3D. You have to convergence ICs located on a large aluminum heat sink with an STK number stamped on them. You can purchase new ones for about 10.00 each. they have to be soldered in. If you can solder you should easily be able to repair this yourself. Let me know if you need anything further.
