Sony 42" Hi Rascal, The model number is PFM-42V1. The light doesn't flash when on stand-by. I have tried unplugging it for a few hours but I get the same fault. A few pixels lit up for a few seconds over the screen but then every thing fades to darkness. It had been working perfectly a couple of hours ago. Thanks a million for the quick response, Karl

Sony pfm 42b1 negative picture

Hi,

I have a Sony PFM-42v1 and it does the same thing, look in your tv menu for picture inversion, usually under screen saver. What it actually does is reduce the chance of screen burnin. By reversing the image it sort of resets the hot areas, brightest colours and the cooler areas being dark colours, switches them around ( negative ). This cools the hot spots and heats up the cold spots.

There should be a option to turn it off, mine and I guess yours as a default is ON, mine has the ON, timer and OFF options.

Hope this helps, please let me know if you need more info.

Sony Tv PFM-42 V1 doesn't show any picture or tv menu

This is a common problem with plasma tvs You did not mention whether you could generate any sound like through your dvd player or something like that. Whether you have audio or not makes a difference on which board may be causing you the problem. Just because it does not have a picture for tv viewing does not mean it won't produce some type of sound through your av1 input. Try it and I'll try to be more specific.

Cannot even find where to plug to aerial point into the sony plasma flat panel display tv PFM-42V1

PFM-42V1 has no ability to receive channels through aerial / cable.
You can hook direct video cables from dvd player, vcr, PC etc.

My sony Sony PFM-42B1 blink 5 times

When a Sony TV flashes five times, that means that there is an AKB circuit fault.
This means that there is something wrong with the video.
Try first unplugging power for few hours, if that does not work, call a technician, as several IC and components must be tested and eventually replaced.

Loss of the color Red....Possibley others on my plasma

If you are lucky, it could be an open resistor or defective IC. Otherwise, I see a new TV in your future as the Plasma display would cost nearly $5500 for the part alone. If the fireplace is used much, I would not mount a TV above it, especially a plasma set which generates a lot of heat all by itself. If the fireplace is only used occasionally and you want to put the replacement set in the same spot, then I would consider a LCD model instead.
