Blowing fuses I have jvc home stereo #CA-MXGT80. Ive always had it plugged into a power surge protector but he plugged directly into the wall and blew the fuses. Now Ive changed the fuses 4 times but it still keeps blowing them even before I turn the stereo on. What can I do?

Older home currently has 100 amp service. No problem if appliances are plugged into wall outlets. Microwave works if plugged into wall outlet.Trips quickly if plugged into UL Listed surge protector.

faulty surge protector
They are useless after one power surge and the breaker is probably reading the faulty earth leakage from the protector
logical that it the oven works anywhere but trips on the protector , then the protector is faulty

My hdmi ports aren't working when tried blank screen comes on I can plug the cable connection in and have cable

If you don't have it plugged into a surge protector box it may have fried your connections. If you do have a surge protector, try reseting or push power button on surge protector unit.

My stereo just quit on me there was bad weather but it was on one of those power surge cords it is a pioneer stereo fm-am digital synthesizer tuner

If it was plugged into a surge protector, check the surge protector warranty. There are A LOT of surge protectors that will cover damage to items plugged into them through their warranty system. I've had full home computers and TV's replaced by surge protector companies to avoid having a hit to homeowners insurance.

We had a power outage, now pixma Mx410 won't come on, any ideas?

Is pinter plugged into a power strip? Try plugging directly into wall. Make sure wall outlet is working correctly, try another item in plug in. Does printer have a power module or brick that is plugged into printer? That power module is there to protect your printer during a power surge, it may need to be reset. Is there a light on that brick or power module? If so, does it light up? If not, could be a bad power module. There is no such thing as "reset" button, so don't look there...It will have to be reset in a series of ways for an "external" module.
  1. Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet, power strip, or surge protector.
  3. If the printer uses a power module with a detachable power cord, disconnect the cord from the power module.
  4. Wait 15 seconds.
  5. If the printer uses a power module with a detachable power cord, reconnect the power cord to the power module.
  6. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  7. Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet. Do not use a power strip or surge protector.
  8. Check to see if the power module or the power cord has an indicator light and if it is on
For an internal module:
  1. Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet, power strip, or surge protector.
  3. Wait 15 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  5. Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet. Do not use a power strip or surge protector.
  6. Check to see if the power module has an indicator light.
Not sure if this will help you..but worth a try.....

My tv wont turnon after being off n unplugged for 6 months what should I do. Sony kdl32l5000

First lets try the basics...
1 check the AC cord for flaws
2 try plugging the TV in another wall outlet (always use a surge-protector) then try powering the TV on again
3 plug tv into surge protector, plug into wall then find the house fuse box going too that outlet and turn it off & on once. Then try powering the TV on again.
4 it could also be the ac fuse inside the TV that blew from the TV's last usage.
If its been in the cold or in excessive thermal conditions for 6 months you could have moisture build up on the boards or warping...
hope this helps, contact me at the link below for further help...

Got a new surge protector/power strip. I

Hi

Please try the monitor without the surge protector to ensure there are no isues with the protector

If the monitor comes on you know its the protector, if it still fails then i recommned the following

1) ensure the fuse in the plug is ok and not blown
2) Change the 3 pin power socket for another one

If after this all fails then for some reason something has blown in your monitor and you will need to book it in for further inspection

If this has been useful please leave positive feedback/vote/testimonial as this will help me greatly - Thank You again

I have a gateway desktop computer. Recently moved

Before you actually replace the power supply, check some other things first:
1. Wall socket
2. Power strip/surge protector
3. Power cable
4. On the back of the computer, where the power cable plugs into, is the red switch set to 115? It should be 115.
5. Make sure that the power cable is not connected to a regular extension cord. Power cable must plug directly into a surge protector that is not daisy-chained to another power strip, surge protector, or normal (household) extension cord. Surge protector must be directly plugged into wall socket.

If none of the above solve the problem, open up the case and ensure that all power connections are secure. Also check ALL other components' connections. Any loose connections can cause problems for you.

If everything is secure and the problem persists, replace the power supply.

Tower won't turn on

Brandi,

Please check the following:

1. Make sure the the surge protector is securely plugged into the wall. Test this by plugging in a light / lamp to it, to make sure it's working.
2. Make sure that the surge protector is turned on.
3. Check to make sure that the power cable from the computer to the power surge protector is securely plugged in.
4. Check to see if the computer will power on now.

5. If this still isn't working, remove the power strip/surge protector and connect the computer directly to the wall.

6. If this STILL isn't working, try plugging your computer into a different outlet in the house to see if the outlet in your home might be bad.

6. If your computer STILL isn't powering on then I'm afraid the worse has happened, which is one of the following issues:

1. Bad power supply (they are cheap, around $20-40)
2. Bad motherboard (they are sort of pricey, around $50-200)
3. Bad CMOS battery (they are cheap, around $5-10)

I can fix all of the above and order parts for all of the above, if you are in need of parts.

I hope this troubleshooting guide helps you! If this resolves your issues, please mark this question as resolved and select my answer. This will assure customers that I can help them with their issues.

Thank you,
Larry Braziel
