Sounds like the cells inside of the battery went bad. Try another known good working battery, if the red X goes away on the battery then you know the original battery is bad. If the red x stays on the new battery then that means either your power adapter is bad, which you can try replacing that as well because it might not be putting out the correct voltages to charge the battery. If that doesn't work then the motherboard is bad for sure.

Within windows
To add the Power Meter icon to the taskbar, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, click Run, type PowerCfg.cpl, and then click OK.
  2. Click the Advanced tab.
  3. Click to select the Always show icon on the taskbar check box, and then click OK.
However you may want to make sure that your battery is working, get it testing, if you have a faulty battery it will not appear also. Good Luck and Hope this helps!

My M305d-S4831 says, No battery is detected, Is there any fix for it? Let me know it. Thanks

I would imagine the battery is bad or the motherboard has problems. In any event I would start replacing the battery they cost about $30 on ebay for new ones http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=M305d-S4831&_sacat=See-All-Categories

How can i activate the built in microphone in my satellite M305D-S4831 with WIN 7

Windows 7 handles sound devices completely differently to any other version of windows...
look for the speaker icon, next to the system clock.
Right click on that icon, and then left click on "Recording devices"...
the rest should be self explanatory...

My toshiba doesn't start anymore

Try removing the battery from the notebook and starting it just from the power. If it operates, you need a new battery.

My toshiba satellite m305ds4831 laptop will not

It's a motherboard hardware issue in all likelihood.

There is NOTHING you can do but update the firmware bios. The problem is that most bios firmware update programs require both ac and battery power at the same time :(

You can try to do it anyways by visiting Toshiba's support page for your model and downloading the firmware from there.

It probably won't fix the problem but it's still worth a shot....sometimes it works ;)
