New Memory card not working

I purchased an Olympus M2GB memory card. When I turn the camera on the display reads ":card not initialized." the camera will not take photos. I believe I have firmware ver 1.19 and need 1.22. Can somebody help me. My daughter is leaving for vacation tomorrow and would like to have her camers with her.

I have a olympus fe-220 using a memory card xd M2gb. i went and bought a new card but its not exactly the same its a xd M+2gb. will i still be able to use the new 1 ? whats the difference between the...

Yes, you can use the XD M+2GB card in your camera. The M+ card is a faster one. The following website gives you more on it.
http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_xd.asp

"The Type M+ xD-Picture card is compatible with the Type M card in all cameras and is 1.5 times faster than the Type M card. The increase in speed may be useful in sequential shooting of digital stills and in the recording of high-density video with Olympus cameras."

Good luck.

We purchased a new memory card (Olympus xD M+ 2GB) and now when we turn the camera on it says "card not initialized" what do we need to do?

You need to format new card through Format option in camera menu, this will enable new memory card to store/ save fresh images.
Thanks.

My new memory card will not work for the Olympus Camedia D-560

The problem is that the largest xD card that your camera can support is an M or H 512mb card. The 1gb card is not compatible. The firmware in the camera cannot support memory storage with that capacity. The camera came out before those cards did and there no plans to upgrade the camera to allow those types of cards to be supported.

The Olympus C-60 can support 16 to 512MB of xd Picture card.

I hope that helps.

Screen reading memory card not initialized

It sounds like your XD card is corrupted. How and why i couldn't tell you. You will need to get the pictures recovered from the card using a special software (image recovery software, can down load for free from some web sites, or some companies can try and do it for you) and then try and format the card in the camera. DO NOT FORMAT THE CARD BEFORE YOU RETRIVE YOUR IMAGES. If you do all traces of the images may be lost.

All the best and happy snapping.

Card Initialize Error

What size is the original card? I don't think it is your camera, possibly the size of the new card.

Screen reading memory card not initialized

Hello

  • Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com
  • 2 Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.
  • 3 Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.
  • 4 In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.
  • 5 Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.
  • 6 Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.
