Question about Audio Players & Recorders

Open Question

My creative Zen Z600 docking station will not switch on and work. The on off light keeps flashing blue and res. Red off blue on. The system does not work whilst this is happening. Tried turning it off and on short periods and long periods to no avail. This has happened before when the system is left on for long periods of time but at this time it is totally inoperable. Any ideas/tips?

SOURCE: My Creative Zen M won't "dock"

My zen microphoto wouldn't dock after working well. It coincided with a download of windows media player 11. I was told to download media player 11 again and to restart the computer twice. Something to do with a driver missing. I didn't think this would work - but it did! In fact two zen micros that wouldn't dock are now docking perfectly!!

Zen V is dead
"If your Zen V is dead, wont respond to anything, try this, plug it in to the computer, hold the power switch in the on position, THEN trigger the reset button, worked like a charm for mine, I had thought it a lost cause."

If you tried to reset it, but it did not respond at all, this indicates that the reset button is broken. You'll need to have it repaired.

SOURCE: creative zen will not dock

Did you recently install another application to your computer? Like an anti-virus maybe? Try this. Go to Control Panel > Device Manager. Look for your Zen under Portable Devices. If you see an exclamation mark on your Zen, double click on it. Another dialog should pop up. Go to the Driver tab and click Uninstall. Then disconnect your Zen from your computer and reconnect it again. This solved the problem for me.

The pc froze whill i was uploading music onto my creative zen v plus and now the screen on the handset says docked and has the docked picture on it with flashing red lights either side. the handset is not...

Try holding the power button down for an extended period of time. If this does not work, there should be a small hole on the side of the device that will reset the player. You'll need to use a paper clip to press the button inside the hole, similar to ejecting a cd/dvd that is stuck in a computer. Hold the button down for several seconds to reset the device.

I have a Creative Zen V plus. It has worked fine

Try to switch it ON when it is connected with USB or charger. If it turns ON then batteries require replacement.

Creative zen won't turn on

had same prob to the T...found this post and it fixed it...it's the computer not the zen...once I did the two steps my zen started charging and turned on...go figure...the flashing blue light doesn't mean it is charging.

If you have windows set to do automatic updates, you most likely had a windows update installed that caused this conflict with Win Media Player 11. No fix has been posted by Microsoft yet, so the only workaround is to Uninstall/Rollback Windows Media Player 11. Goto <Control Panel<Add/Remove Programs and remove Windows Media Player 11. Follow prompts, restart computer when prompted to. Also uninstall Windows Media Player 11 Runtime application following same procedure above.
This will roll your Windows Media Player back to version 10 or 9, whichever you had installed prior to version 11. You will need to re-configure Windows Media Player again.

Your Zen should now be recognized by WMP and Creative software. You probably need to upgrade your firmware at this point, follow the instructions on upgrading your firmware, and you should be good to go.

This is a windows problem, not a creative problem. Dont blame Creative for the screwed up hotfixes that Microsoft puts out on a regular basi
