Question about iRiver iHP-140 MP3 Player
SOURCE: iRiver iHP-140
Open the player and test for battery's voltage. In case of a low voltage measurement, you should replace the battery.I don't want to be cruel with you but, maybe that the player power circuit was damaged as well, and in this case it should be repaired by a certified technician (I realy hope for you that this is not the situation). Good luck !!!

Did you reinstall the firmware? Check to see that you have a file called ihp_120.hex on the root directory. If not, you can download the latest version of the device's firmware from the support page on iriver's website. Otherwise, I suggest you try installing Rockbox firmware (www.rockbox.org).

SOURCE: formating problems
The H140 needs to be formatted as a fat32 file system for the players firmware to recognise it. To check which file system you have formatted to connect your player to your pc and go to > my computer >right click on your player > then click on properties. It will tell you what file system you have. Windows will only format to ntfs file systems, so if you need to reformat you will need to download Swissknife http://www.compuapps.com/download/Swissknife/swissknife.htm (its free :-) )and use it to reformat your player.

SOURCE: mMy iRiver iHP-140 doesn't turn
If it is the power switch and it is out of warranty you are out of luck. This happened to mine and iriver will not fix anything not in warranty. Bill in AZ
