It thinks it's in clean mode.

try unplugging the unit,
depending on your exact model it may just be lost in the programming becuse it sensed the door open while locking so it shuts down the lock for safety
just unplugging if for a few minutes might clear the error enough for the lock to rotate back to closed
position

This is possibly a self clean oven. Usually when the self clean is operated the timer is used. Try checking the timer is back on "manual"

the switch for the lock has an interlock to keep it from working when the door is open this may be shot

Just inside the door but on the oven is a button. My husband pressed it and held it down while sliding the (center) lock to the left. That unlocked it.

My oven was locked and would not open. No lock light was on but the oven was clearly locked. F9 error when I hit certain buttons.

Try this. I unplugged the oven for about 5 minutes. Plugged back in. A LOCK light came on. Held down "Oven Cancel" for a few seconds. Door opened and lock light went off. No more F9 error when I hit those buttons.
