Plug the device into a computer using the USB cable. It should appear as a drive in "My Computer" Open it, then delete the music files you no longer want using the delete key (they may be in a folder called "Music").

Coby mp3 mp601- I want to delete the music off of it and use bear share to upload more music because some of the music will not download on to the mp3 player. I was able to get a handful to where as i have...

You need to use the coby media manager to delete or upload file to your player. In BearShare, go to the File menu and select Explore Downloads, note where your files are, then go to the coby media manager to transfer them. Here is a link to the manual for your device:

How do I download music to my coby mp3 player? Where can i find a download for the coby media manager?

When you connect the MP3 player to yourcomputer with the supplied USB cable then computer detects the player as anexternal storage device or a Removable disk, you can then view the folder onyour MP3 player. Open the music folder and create a new folder on the playerexactly the same way you create a folder on your computer's hard drive. Toorganise your music, make a folder name with the name of the music album andplace the album's MP3 files in this folder, then copy the mp3 files from thecomputer into this folder.
You will then be able to select the music you want to play by the music albumfolder. To delete a filefrom your MP3 player, connect the supplied USB cable to your player and thenplug it into the USB port of your computer.
The computer will detect your player then click on this device to view thefiles, you can then click on the music file to highlight the file and thenpress the Del key to delete the file off your MP3 player. MP3 players can only play music files in mp3 file format. You can download mp3 music files from the Internet toyour computer and then copy them to your MP3 player. For your CD collection, you need to convert your CDs tomp3 music files onto your computer or download them from the Internet and thencopy them to your MP3 player.
You can do this using Windows Media player and Rip the CDs - Media Player willcreate a MP3 music file for each music track.

I WANT TO DELETE ALL THE MUSIC ON FILE

The best and quickest way to erase all from you player would be to use windows explorer. Just treat it as any other folder (music folder) select it, right click, then choose delete. Another sure fire way is to format the player either though the coby Media Manager program (look in bottom right corner) or open a command prompt and use the format command. For instance, if your computer designates the player as drive letter F: then you would type at the command prompt...

Format F: /u

Don't worry about the other items on the player, such as, the radio, setup menu, etc. they will still be there. Format will remove all other data (Music, photos, text, video, and even the Media Manager program) so to be safe you should backup any files you want to keep first, especially the media manager program.

I prefer the coby media manager over the windows media player and/or real-player. It is alot easier to update the song info if you have to do so manually. Especially if you are trying to add album art to the songs.

Good Luck!!!

Remember...Back up you player programs before using the format option...or deleting any files for that matter.
