Tape mechanism problems can be quite complicated. This will require disassembling the camera to repair the tape mechanism and can be done fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.

The lift-off tape is to low

1. Use the SPACEBAR or BACKSPACE to move the carrier to the center of the typewriter, then turn off the typewriter and unplug the unit from the AC outlet.
2. Open the Top Cover and remove the cassette ribbon, if installed.
3. Pull off both spools by holding the correction tape taut between the spools; bring the correction tape to a position parallel with the platen and lift up and out.

4. Pass the new tape through left guide, behind the ribbon guide and out through the right guide. The rough (sticky) side of the tape should face the platen.

5. Attach the feeder spool to the pin on the left.

6. Attach the take up spool to the pin on the right. Turn the take up spool counter-clockwise until a small amount of white tape has wound around it.

Broken hood release larch on '01 Pontiac Grand Am.

You can try going up from the bottom behind the bumper cover, or thru the grille opening. You may be able to pull the hood latch with a hook such as a coat hanger or pry it with a crowbar.
You may have to have the bumper cover removed to gain access.

Sony Handycam CCD-TRV58 Hi-8 Analog Camcorder
1. Per the manual on esupport.sony.com
- if the power is disconnected door won't open, and if the battery is the dead the door won't open.
Plug it in and hopefully you can get the tape out.

Did this work?

Cassette stuck

Yes, many ideas. The deck has to be opened up and unplugged, then look at why the mechanism will not cycle properly. It is most often a rubber belt that is too loose and taking the unit apart enough to get a new belt in is what is needed. To release the tape rotate the pulley by hand until the head base goes down and the door will allow eject to happen. DO NOT force the mechanism- if it gives resistance at some point go the other way and see if that releases the head base. There are all kinds of different systems that have different cam positions.

How do you release the scanner lock switch on the MP990

Open the document cover of the scanner decision, you should be able to slide the release lock switch towards the hinge side of the document cover. There is a padlock symbol on each side of the switch; the side closer to the hinge is an unlocked padlock. The other side has a locked padlock symbol. If the all-in-one was on, turn it off and wait 5 seconds before turning it back on after unlocking the unit.

If the switch is in the unlocked position and turning the printer off and then on again doesn't resolve the error, the unit needs service. Contact Canon if it is under warranty. (Otherwise, decide if the printer is worth the service call.)

I hope this helps.

Tape is stuck, can't remove it

I remove a stuck tape from a VCR by taking off the outside cover. (My unit was held together by 5 screws.) This allowed me to access the tape and check where it was locked. I had to loosen a twisted tape from the mechanism and then I could eject it. (Note: I unplugged the deck before removing the cover.)

I hope this helps.

(I've been fortunate; I've only had to do this on VCR units (not VCR/DVD) that were out of warranty. If your MWR20V6 is still in warranty, you may not want to open the case at home.)

How to remove the battery to pandital

Removing the PDN bottom coversCaution Be careful not to put too much pressure on the display, there's glass under there! The larger back cover slides down away from the smaller cover. there s is a seam on the back that divides the two It is held in place internally by 2 strips of double sided tape, one on each side. Start by working a thin plastic tool guitar pick into the horizontal seam under the Pandigital logo. The cover is held securely by clips on the sides one in the center of the seam. As you open the seam, you are trying to overcome the grasp of the double sided tape & that's all. Be sure slide the cover down sufficiently 1/8 before you try to lift it up. Once you move it far enough to hear the hold of the tape let go, you should be able to lift the cover off. There is nothing electrical connected to the back cover. In the video, the double sided tape has already been removed & the cover slides open more easily than the first time. It is not necessary to remove the tape, as it will loose some of it's holding power & the cover will usually be easier to remove in subsequent attempts Removing the smaller (upper) back cover This info is a bit more sketchy, as I have not found detailed instructions, instead it is a collection of tips from those who have done it. The top of the back plate will be where the most resistance is. What I found is that you need to get the upper right side loose first if looking from the back once that's loose, you basically pry it off from there. It is very difficult to get off, even after the tape is detached. Every time I've done it I was sure I broke the **** thing because you get that cracking sound that makes your hair stand on end This cover does not slide to be lifted off like the larger cover. Instead you pry the sides OUT, because the tabs that hold it on push straight IN. Once you get those it's a matter of overcoming your fear and pulling hard enough to tear loose from the tape. Also, be smart. The top doesn't slide, but it has to be pushed UP to clear the switches. and remove the sd card

Hi, I have the Canon Pixma MX310 and I tried to replace the ink cartridge but I messed i up and I still don't know how to replace it... I think it's error 5100 or something because it says it on...

Installing ink cartridges:
Make sure that the machine is turned on, lift the Scanning Unit (Printer Cover) with both hands, then pull the Scanning Unit Support (A) down into place.Take out a new cartridge from its casing and gently remove the orange protective tape in the direction of the arrow.Note: - Do not attempt to reattach the protective tape once you have removed it.do not touch the gold electrical contacts or the print head nozzles after removing the protective tape.Insert the ink cartridge into the ink cartridge holder.- Black: the left slot- Color: the right slot*
  1. *One black cartridge and one color cartridge must be installed in the machine in order for the printer to operate. It does not matter if the capacities (Standard or High) do not match.

  2. Push up on the front of the cartridge until it locks into place. (A click sound will be heard when the cartridge is locked in place.)Confirm that the ink cartridges are installed properly.OR

  3. <1> The ink cartridge is not installed properly.

<2> The ink cartridge is installed properly.

  4. Fold the scanning unit support and close the scanning unit (printer cover).

  5. Wait until the preparatory operation is complete; it takes about one to two minutes.
Removing Ink Cartridges:
  1. After confirming that the printer is powered on, open the scanning unit (printer cover). The ink cartridge holder moves to the replacement position.

  2. Press down on the semi-circular tab to release the cartridge and then remove it.
  3. Remove and replace each cartridge individually. Or, remove the second cartridge after the first has been removed.

  4. Fold the scanning unit support and close the scanning unit (printer cover).

Cannot get tape to eject

It could be a couple of different issues. These things could help.
(1) Power OFF the camera, remove battery then replace the battery, power up the cam and try to eject tape again. Nothing? try...
(2) Gently press inward on the tape cover with both thumbs a few times. Then, while pressing gently inward with one hand, press the release/eject-tape function until you hear a click or release sound. Then, if it doesn't open automatically, gently "help" open the hatch.

If it remains stuck, after follwing these steps a few times it would be my guess that perhaps the camera has been dropped in a way that jammed the mechanism controlling the eject function.

TIPS that may prevent having eject problems: When loading tape, be sure to insert the tape correctly and slowly, makeing sure the tape is placed properly. Gently press on the specific location indicated to close the tape holder, and wait for the tape to "seat" properly before closing any other part of the tape cover or hatch mechanism. Taking a few extra seconds when loading the tape can save extended frustration later.

Tape cover on unit is jammed

Don't force it, most likely the trouble is the capstan belt and U need to drive the mechanism foreword so the play mode can be released and the door will open but this will happen all the time till U get the belt replaced!
