Reair required on Sony Vaio

Hi,
I have a laptop as above,( sony vaio VGN-S1HP )the problem is as follows.
When switched on power lights come on but at least 70% of the time the screen remains “Blank” and hangs and will not boot…..sometimes after a while if you switch it of and back on again it will then Power up,and everything fine?....do you know what causes this ? and can you fix it? And obviously a costing….I believe this is apparently a common fault with these.

Sorry ,I know this is an Internal Hardware Problem not Power related......as it does appear on other forums.

I have not heard of this problem with Sony Vaio's. Have you tried another powersupply? you might have a battery that doesn't charge or a faulty mains connector?

The HDD has not been placed correctly leading to a short circuit so the laptop does not switch-on . Remove the HDD and power-on the laptop if it switches on then need to check the HDD .

Power socket sony vaio

Look at the power/battery charging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's power socket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position this LED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a dry solder joint where it is connected to the motherboard.
This can be repaired but it requires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket and repair. If you cannot DIY then I suggest you get a quote first.

Hi, i need to reinstall the drivers for my sony vaio vgn fz21e after wiping my hard drive, i have used drivercure, and it has mostly worked but some of the drivers it has installed are not the right ones....

please go to the sony site and by entering your laptop model, load the required drivers www.sonyvaio.com
