Broken lens zoom

My Cyber shot DSC-W70 run out of battery with lens out, I push it down to force it close and I think is now broken.. now with charged battery I turn on the camera but the lens is not coming out all the way.

I too forced the lens down after dropping my camera face down and getting the access message. Not holding out much hope for a fix. Really gutted as this is my second broken Sony camera - my son poured his bubbles into the lens of the first one...!!

Hi

Never push in a lens, you definitely broke it.

A couple solutions would be to either buy a defective camera online and make one good camera from the two if you can do that sort of thing yourself, or secondly have it repaired by somebody.

Don't bother trying to send the camera to Sony if it is out or warranty (though you can call them and verify what I'm about to say) because they will want $150+ to do the repair for you. Parts are not cheap to buy from them.

I know of one very affordable digital camera repair business... because I own it. The name is Darntoothysam, feel free to check us out, we are on that big auction website also (I don't plug their name for free), our seller ID is 'darntoothysam'. If you Google "darntoothysam" you will find us.

We have your repair listed as a package in our store for about $70. This covers a new lens, and return shipping of your camera! We even give a 45 day warranty on parts and labor. If you think you can use us then please check us out, even if you need to ask more questions then please feel free to contact me.

Hope this helps,

Thomas

Hi!
It sounds like the lens unit is damaged. You should contact your local Sony service center. If they ask too much, you can contact me [email protected] - I work in a Sony service center and repair these every day.

Lens/zoom wont come out

The lens mechanism inside of the lens unit is damaged. The fix is to change the lens. You can send the camera to authorized service rep for an estimate. I believe that the cost of service many be close to or even more expensive than replacing the camera.

System error sony DSC-w70

Try re-charging your battery or you may check your memory stick. If the cause of this problem is by an accidental drop of the device, then may be you suspected right on the lens. It may cause dis a line of gears... ^_^
