To be honest the Windows print screen tool is pretty useless anyway. Try downloading this tool http://www.hyperionics.com/

It is easy to use, has loads of features and you get a full free trial. It only costs peanuts anyway, well worth the money.

To do a "Print Screen, hold down the Shift Key and Hit PritScrn. Open Paint or some other graphics program and paste the image. This will paste the print screen to the graphics program and you can then edit, print or manage the print screen any way you desire. Let me know if you require additional assistance.

Prtsc sysrq key

If you hold Ctrl and press PrtScrn it will copy an image of your screen to the clipboard.
Now you need an image editing SW, like photoshop or maybe gimp etc.. You have to create a NEW image (empty) then use EDIT function to paste the clipboard into the new image. Nw you can crop out the parts you don't want.

What is the use of 'PrtScrn' key

In the olde days the PrntScrn key dumped the text contents of the screen to the printer (hence the Print Screen name). Nowadays it usually dumps an image of the screen to the clipboard, from where it can be pasted into a program.

What is a screenshot

A "screenshot" is a snapshot of what's on your computer's screen.
  1. The first step is to create the windows that you want to capture and leave them up on the screen.
  2. Just to the right of your keyboard, you should see three groups of keys. The lower set of keys usually is a group of arrow keys. Above that is usually a set of some six keys that are labeled "Insert," "Home," "Page Up," etc. Above that should be three keys that have rather odd labels - like Pause/Break and ScrLk. One of those keys should be labeledPrtScrn/SysRq. Pressing Alt-PrintScreen (Alt-PrtScrn) places an image of the frontmost window on the clipboard. Pressing PrintScreen by itself places an image of the entiredesktop on the clipboard.
  3. If you press PrtScrn/SysRq, nothing will appear to have happened. However, your computer just took a snapshot of its screen and stored that picture on its clipboard, much as it stores information that you cut and paste.
  4. Open MS-Paint. (From Start/Run, issue the command "mspaint".) Create a new empty image, and use Edit/Paste to bring in the screenshot you just took. (If the screenshot is smaller than the default Paint canvas, you will end up with white areas. Start over: create a new empty image, change its dimensions to 1x1, and Paste again. The canvas will grow for the Paste, but it doesn't shrink.)
  5. Use MS-Paint to Save As, using PNG as the file format (it is superior to all the rest

HEY IM FINDING PRINT SCREEN BUTTON ON THS LAPTOP BUT I FAILED KINDLY HELP ME...................

Back in the days of DOS, the PrtScn key used to print the screen. But in all versions of Windows, this works differently, and the name of the key is now an anachronism. The key does *not* print the screen. PrtScrn captures the whole screen, and Alt-PrtScrn captures the active window.

Either one captures the image to the Windows clipboard. Once it's in the clipboard you can paste (Ctrl-V) it into any application that supports graphics (Windows Paint, other graphics programs, even your favorite word processor). You can edit or add to the image as you wish, then print it.
This ability to manipulate the image in a program before printing it is an improvement over the original DOS method of just printing it. But if you'd like that old facility back, there are several third-party freeware/shareware programs that can do this, such as PrintKey2000 at http://www.sharewarejunkies.com/00zwd2/printkey2000.htm

hope this helps

After you hit the print screen button you have to open up Paint or something similar and then go to File and Paste. It should put a copy of your screen there and you can print from that. Hope this helps

The print screen process will not work with my keyboard. Neither will the Alt + prtscrn. I do not get anything when I try to paste.

Press PRINT SCREEN.
Click Start
Click All Programs
Click Accessories
Click Paint

When Paint opens, click 'Edit' and 'Paste'.
You should now see the captured image of the screen.

Note that ALT-PRINT-SCREEN captures _only_ the current window;
PRINT-SCREEN captures the _entire_ screen.

How do i use print screen key

If you have one monitor, you can use any one of the three +PrtScrn.

If you have two monitors, using CTRL+PrtScrn or Shift+Prtscrn will copy both screens.

With two monitors, if you want to copy one screen, click on the screen you want to copy and use the Alt+PrtScrn keys.
