Weed eater starts and idles after it warms. When I accelerate it sounds like it is choking itself out or it is starved for gas then stalls.restart and it does it all over. Sometimes it stalls when i go to move it even before I try to accelerate. I think the carb needs an adjustment. This was brand new last year. I only used it once and had to run it in the half choke position.

SOURCE: i have a ryobi weed eater clean carb change filter

I have the same problem. It will run if I put it halfway between Half Choke and Full Choke. But, just dies if I put it on Run or Half Choke. Don't ever loan your WE to anyone, They might just try to run it on straight gas--That is what happened on another week eater that I had.

SOURCE: starts but will not run

you are right, check your fuel filter, fresh gas and clean your carb out, also check your exhaust screen for being plugged, also a bad fuel cap could cause this, if the cap is not venting

SOURCE: weedeater FB25 5months old only used once and was hard to start right from the box. Can't get it to run now. What steps should I take on troubleshooting

This sounds much like poor car settings ( set too lean ) you need to richen up the L and H screw on the carb, unfortunatley there will be anti tamper sleeves on the carb or a special tool reqired to adjust them, turning the screws anti clockwise will richen the mixture if you manage to remove the caps or get hold of the apropriate tool.

Why won't my FeatherLite FL-20C weed eater will not stay running when I put it in full choke. What could be wrong?

It should run ok after warming up. After starting it, let it run for a minute or so and then try gradually opening the choke. You might try increasing the throttle setting at the same time. After the motor is hot, if you have to have the throttle setting increased in order to keep it running it means the idle setting needs to be increased, usually by turning a screw to keep the fuel valve from closing so much, or that there is a problem with the fuel flow......like a clogged jet or fuel passage in the carb.

Is the choke leaver in the off position when warmed up? Have you used correct fuel/oil mix?

Weed Eater Problems

If it runs with the choke closed then it's not getting enough gas. Check the gas filter on the end of the gas line in the gas tank. Remove the gas cap and using a piece of wire with a hook on the end, reach in the tank and pull the gas line out through the opening. Check the filter on the end of it. You could also have a burst-ed diaphragm in the carburetor. This sucks the gas from the tank to the carb. If that's the case a new weed eater may be in order unless you can find someone with the parts to repair it. Also check the gas lines for leaks or breaks, 2 of them.

I have a Craftsman 32cc weed trimmer, can't give gas, it stalls

Usually the diaphram is wore out. It is a relatively inexpensive part. Does it run better with a little choke? If the answer is yes chances are it's the diaphram. Also sometimes the adjustment screws can move. There are two, one for low speed, and one for high. With the engine warmed up make small movements on the screws (some are marked low, and high) in, and out adjust til the engine runs at its optimum.
Hope this helps!
