You should be able to mute the internal speakers via a provided audio control panel which is part of the software supplied with the system.
Try this:
- Open the Control Panel from the Start menu
- Open the "Sounds and Audio Devices" folder and possibly the "Advanced" section to see what control possibilities you have.
- If you need clarification, ask it in the comment box above.
- Better answers use proper spelling and grammar.
- Provide details, support with references or personal experience.

If you have head set connected to computer the computer speaker will be functioning thorough head set and you will not hear sound from computer. When head set is disconnected the computer speaker will function, just like usual!
To get "surround" sound, when you face the computer, you will have:
* 2 front speakers, one immediately on each side of the computer
* 2 side speakers, one on each side of your head
* 2 rear speakers, one behind each side of your head
Thus, when the sound is of a jet-plane coming towards your face,
you'll first hear the sound in the front speakers,
then in the side speakers,
and finally in the rear speakers,
to produce a sound-effect of the jet passing over your head, and going "behind" you.
Usually, for "front" speakers, one speaker connects to the other speaker, and the second speaker connects to the "FRONT-audio-output" connector on your sound-card.
For side speakers, one speaker will connect to the LEFT-side-audio-output port,
and one speaker will connect to the RIGHT-side-audio-output port.
For rear speakers, one speaker will connect to the LEFT-rear-audio-output port,
and one speaker will connect to the RIGHT-rear-audio-output port.
This can sometimes happen if you have installed a program or tried to very recently. I suggest you restore your laptop to a previously good setting.
Choose a day before when you last recall the speakers working well. E.g. if you recall the speakers giving a problem on 5th october, select a date before that. It should work. Good Luck.
i) try somother headset(if you have spare ones...with u), if prob still exists there must problem with sound port(inbuilt sound on your laptop) which is not allowing the wire or chord of your headset to completely plugin to your laptop sound port.....
it is like this connecting wire is paritally inside your laptop sound port and partially outside and leading to sounds from both laptop speaker(builtin) and the headset you are connecting.....
Did you plug into the correct port? if so, I would start by replacing motherboard drivers. Your motherboard came with a disk to install chipset drivers and other function drivers. Reinstall them and see if when it overwrites it corrects the issue. There may be the wrong driver installed on the PC.
