I had no problem uploading pictures on to my old Windows XP computer but cant upload onto my new Windows Vista. When I use the vivitar software it asks me to choose a card type I cant seem to use the correct one, whenI try using Windows Photoshoot it cant detect a camera. Please can you advise me.
Thanks
Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa.

You do not need software really plug the camera in and It should be recognised as a new removable drive and Windows Scanner/Camera Wizard activates.

Your camera is unsupported because of it's age.The link at top has the Driver software so the camera and computer will work together. If you have Vista or Win 7 your only download option is from a card.Sorry,it's the best I could do for help.

I have the exact same problems...it appears to be a "vista" bug...sometimes windows will recognize vivacam 8400 and sometimes it's days before you can download.
