Greetings and thank you in advance for taking the time. Model is a Electrolux Frigidaire plmv168cc1. Today I pulled the door open somewhat quickly as a cup was boiling over (nothing affecting the appliance - just coffee). When I looked at the display it was blank. Unplugging the appliance and waiting did not solve the situation. The socket still provides power so it is not a house fuse issue. I used the manual website retrevo to download the manuals and exploded views; the troubleshooter was less than helpful. I am willing to crack it open however I am concerned about which part to look at for replacing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

SOURCE: Microwave dead after power surge.

A) The fuse you change was the one on top just behind the control board? correct? Not the one on the door hinge side of the microwave. (as is is the Thermal cutout ) Then most likely took out the control board... i would also check the Capacitor and recifier let me know it this helped?

Yes, the display can be replaced. You can order the part on line at searspartsdirect.com. Just type in your model number as listed in your question and look under the "Control Panel" heading for item number 14. The part number is 5304429419. I hope this helps you.

SOURCE: Frigidaire door/power problem

Sounds like either the latch assembly or hinges too loose to activate the micro switch. TIP: Go to the web and type www.partselect.com enter your model number then scoll down to your part. Click to enlarge exploded diagram on left. Veiw enlarged diagram at top of page. You can print the entire diagram for exact assembly by holding your pointer in the upper left hand corner of diagram. Select the print icon. Now you have what you need. If you found any of these suggestions helpful, please rate my solution. D. Lange

Why my door on my frigidaire microwave model GLMB209 won't open?

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand that the door will not open on your Frigidaire microwave, model# GLMB209. Specifically, when dealing with your microwave, I suggest contacting your local authorized technician. They have been trained on your appliance and will be able to get the door open and repaired, without causing damage to you, your family, or your home. Hope this is helpful.

I have a frigidaire Electrolux gallery series glmv168cqi microwave. The timer counts down, but the oven doesn't turn on. Sometimes when you open the door the fan turns on.

That would be a failing bottom door switch, or its mount.
My help file on door switches is here:
http://031d26d.namesecurehost.com/mwd/doorsw.txt
There's a video here showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Once the control panel has been removed, you can access the door switches for testing and possible replacement.
There should be a technical manual hidden behind the controller or grille, too.

Frigidaire microwave plmv168cc1 makes humming noise when door closed

Chances are that the secondary (cook) relay on the control circuit board is shorted, meaning that the oven is actually cooking any time the door is closed.

You can test that by putting in a cup of water, shutting the door, and letting it go for about 30 seconds, then checking the water temperature.

This is dangerous, and can lead to a fire, so please unplug the oven until it is repaired.

The relay can be replaced for far less than the cost of a new control circuit board.

Remove a door on a microwave

I wouldn't remove the door myself if I were you. If you just got the microwave, it should be under a return/replace policy, or a warranty. I would recommend returning the microwave and getting a sturdier one, as you don't know if the problem exists for all microwaves in that series, and most stores don't allow the replacement to be return/replaced.
