You could try to find "new" drivers for download, but you are NOT likely to find any, *AND* any new drivers are NOT likely to solve your problem.

Try your keyboard in a different computer. If it still fails to work, it's necessary to replace the keyboard. If it works, try connecting that other keyboard to your computer.]
If that "other" keyboard works fine in the "other" computer, but does NOT work in your computer, then your keyboard is NOT the cause of the problem; instead, your computer has some other problem.

Occasionally a glitch will occur where a certain symbol will keep repeating itself as if I'm holding the key down. Such as \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\. I

Nope, the KB isn't completely clean - you have a key that is staying stuck down - (usually some dirt in it. Work out which keys - showly working through each of them - then pop the top off that key, and clean under it. Or get a Replacement KB.

Partial keyboard doesn't work.

Try blowing on it with canned air or a hair dryer. Other than that keyboards are cheap and easy to replace. Good luck!

I mistakenly reprogrammed my gateway keyboard

If you are on Vista (Maybe XP has it too), go to the Classic View in the Control panel/Default Programs. At the bottom click on "Set Program Access and Computer Defaults" From there, follow your nose back to the one you want--down carrets open some choices. My KB-0532 was set to "custom" and then it let me chose my browser, mail program, etc.

Gateway Keyboard kb-0532, tilde key does not work in fallout 3

If it is not working only in specific games, then the issue is most likely with the game itself, or some settings therein. Your keyboard does not require a driver for the key to work. The generic drivers that come built-in with Vista should make any keyboard to work. A keyboard driver is only needed to program the hot keys and play/volume etc. functions.

Try the tilde key in Notepad or MS Word. If it works there, then the issue is with the game. You will have to refer to the game manual to find out how to program the key.

If, however, the key does not work in Notepad / Word either, then your keyboard is most likely defective. Hope that helps! Should you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here.

P.S. – I would greatly appreciate a FixYa! rating if the solution I provided fixed or helped you resolve your problem.

Thank you for using FIXYA!
