I have a used evo n800v. I can only boot HD's smaller than 8gb. These were originally shipped with 20 to 60gb HD. The bios settings are VERY limited and there is nothing to change to correct this. I have cleared cmos and flashed the latest bios version but still can't boot larger HD. Thanks for any ideas and help.
This is a known issue at HP, you should download and install the 68P4M ROM which will solve this:
- Fixes issue where system serial number was lost after upgrade to the new BIOS.
- Fixes variation in the noise of the fan when in motion.
- Fixes error where L1 cache shows only 16KB instead of 20KB in F10 Setup.
- Fixes error where FDISK could only see 8GB of 40GB and 60GB in the Multibay Hard Drive.

How did you flash the BIOS last time?
Can you boot from USB in your BIOS?
Ifso you can put the file on USB drive. Otherwise you can download the file and instead of double clicking to install only unzip it and than burn it on a bootable CD, most CD writing software have an option to make a CD bootable.

Can you otherwise borrow or find a PCMCIA or USB floppy drive from somebody?

Looks like what I need but it creates a boot disk. I don't have a disk drive. Anyway to make a cd to boot from instead of a floppy?
Thanks
Last time I updated bios it just installed from windows. This time when I double click the file it wants to create a floppy to boot from. I know how to create a bootable cd with a iso file but this is different. I'll try to figure out. Thanks for your help.
