You don't say whether ou've tried using the reset button, which unlocks the mirror after lock up. As you look at the camera face on (shutter top left, rewind arm top right) then its about at 5pm on the lens mount. Whilst pressing that down, rotate the manual speeds band (found on the lens mount on the body) round to B, which should unlock the mirror.
If it does, it should work normally with new batteries in.

I've repaired lots of OM bodies with this problem, which seems to occur with age. Problem caused by excessive grease in the wind mechanism. Has to be taken apart, degreased, rebuilt and gears retimed. See my site for more info if interested. John, www.zuiko.com

if its just a sticky mirror you could try to very genteely flip it down again but if the shutter is jamed in its sliders it could need to go to a camera shop to get it "fully serviced!" also check its not just the shutter lock button stuck in, or the shutter is locked open,

Shutter jammed

The shutter assembly must be replaced then. But your camera is near-worthless and the repair is not a DIY option, so it's uneconomic to do so.

You can get a complete replacement camera for nothing on FreeCycle or Freegle, or very cheaply on auction websites. My last two N75's and an N8008 (a.k.a. F-801) came to me as perfect near unused and boxed examples from FreeCycle.

Film won't advance

Pentax ME Super was one of my favorite camera, small and clean shutter release. But it has been about 25 years since it was manufactured. They happen to use rubber break within shutter unit and as any rubbers, it started to deteriorate and melt between the shutter-blades. This prevents the complete cycle of the shutter and jams the winding. You may be able to unjam the winding but eventually you have to overhaul the shutter unit. Overhaul charge is around $100 in US repair market. -James

Just purchased from an auction. the film advance

The first to check is the battery condition. Press the battery check button on the top cover and see where the meter needle rests in the VF. If the needle is above 5.6, battery is getting weak and it will cause irratic shutter release or no release. It's time to change the battery. If needle is below 5.6, then you have magnet problem or other fault. -James. For further assistance by email, go to www.camerarepairjapan.com

No need to look at the schematics. It only will give you a little headache. Replace Shutter release magnet (MG#3). While winding stage the Mg#3 suppose to catch the lever and any dirt or particle may prevent it. Clean it and it shoud take care of the problem. Good Luck -James. Did you set the camera to M90 AFTER you installed new batteries? The camera will work without batteries in the B and M90 settings, but when you install new batteries, reset the mirror by turning the dial to M90. If this doesn't correct it, I wouldn't recommend opening the camera - take it to a repair shop.
