THE SET WILL NOT POWER ON. The blue power light blinks every second. I have unplugged the set several times for longer periods each time without change to the problem. The set is a Sharp LC-37D90U. The set always had little mysterious problems that seemed to cure itself since new. One problem was that the set would not turn off and produced a picture as if you were looking through a window screen and a not so clear hazy two tone gray picture. That only happened twice. Otherwise the picture was very sharp.

This set was made around 2001 and should have the self check feature. Unplug set and then plug back in and try to turn set on----if green power light comes on for a few seconds and goes off--ON the front of the set press and hold menu and input buttons together for several seconds and then release--------------power light should blink a two digit error code and repeat it several times.

1 blinks, 2 blinks a pause and then repeats(1,2 is no error found.)

Do the self check when power light goes out:

ON front of set (not remote) press and hold both the Menu and Input (Device) buttons at same time for 5 seconds or longer and release both buttons.

Power light will blink a two digit error code like 2 blinks, 2 blinks, a pause and repeat it several times.

It is very common that the fly-back and high voltage multiplier and also the horizontal output stage fails in these sets. Along with it, the power supply will usually require to be serviced. On rare occasions, the vertical deflection amp fails.
