Question about Minolta QMS PagePro 9100 Laser Printer

Printer reports Media Jam Fuser when there is none

I've removed and cleaned the fuser unit, plus all parts around the fuser, and the printer is still giving me this error. What other sensors (if not part of the fuser) can cause this error, so I can clean them or check them? We have a pretty dirty printer, so there's a good chance there's just a sensor that's so dirty it's picking up a jam.

I'm trying to avoid completely dismantling the whole printer. I don't do this for a living, and I'd rather just target the sensors that cause this error, not spend 8 hours cleaning the thing just to find out there's a bad sensor (which I wouldn't be able to spot just by looking at anyway).

There is no jam, but I don't know what sensor thinks there is a jam. I need someone to help me figure out what other sensors will report a jam in the fuser unit, because I've checked the sensors in the fuser unit and they're all clear.

If you know how to dismantle the printer that will be better so you can clean the entire printer and check all the possible things that maight causing the paper jam....

If that's the case better take it to a repair center and let them check that sensor problem the sensor has the problem why its acting that way...

Toner cleaning off paper

Warning !! turn off power to printer before checking or removing fuser unit.
the fuser unit is not heating up the paper to 400 degrees celcius to fuse the toner to the paper. Would check fuser unit usually at back of printer. Warning !! turn off power to printer before checking or removing fuser unit.
You may have damaged it if you pulled it out while the power was still on to remove a paper jam or hopefully you just did not put it back properly .
Warning !! turn off power to printer before checking or removing fuser unit.

check the temperature of the paper when printed it should be warm.

I have a continous smudge on the right side of the page when printing on a 2420dn. I have replaced the cartridge with no success.

Your Fuser Film is the most likely cause. These do more often than not, fail prior to the fusing unit needing to be replaced. The test for this is to print a page then shut the printer off when the page is about 1/2 way thru the printer. Just kind of time it from the time it feeds the paper to when the paper exits the printer. Cut this time in half and use that as a guide to when to shut the printer off. Once you do this open up the printer where the toner cartridge is and remove the cartridge. If the page is about 1/2 printed then look at the edge where the smudge usually is. If it is not there then you know it is the fuser. You can either order in a new fuser unit or see if a local repair company will do just a fuser film for you. This is what I do. The fuser film plus labor is about $100.00
The fuser unit plus labor is around $250
Also if the fuser is at fault you will sometimes see part of the image from the top part of the page will get reprinted farther down the page in the area where the smudge is.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

In Konica Minolta 2430dk, I had a media jam in the fuser. I cleared the visible paper, but there is still some stuck inside the fuser that is impossible to clear (I can't get my fingers to it), so printer...

The only solution is to take the fuser unit out of the printer, then you may be able to manually rotate the rollers to clear the jam. If there are any marks or scratches on the fuser rollers, you will need to replace the fuser unit, or you will get marks on your prints

What is media jam fuser error

It means there is a paper jam in the fuser (the hot part that fixes the toner to the paper).
Check if there is any sheet jammed inside your printer or if any sensor is in the wrong position.
If everything seems to be ok, you may need to replace the fuser.

Media jam transfer roller

We have a Xerox 6120 which is mechanically identical to the 2430. It was reporting media jams. We determined after removal and careful inspection that the fuser roller and fuser pressure roller had been damaged by what looked like someone attempting to clear a jam with a sharp object. I cannot speak re: the 2430, but the fuser in the 6120 is not a FRU. The construction of the fuser doesn't tolerate any flaws on either surface. There was more paper jammed in the fuser where we couldn't see it until we had the fuser out of the printer. We are shopping for a new printer as the repairs will cost more than we paid for the printer.

Reporting my inactive printer

To clear this error: Power the printer off and let it stand for at least 30 minutes to allow the fuser to cool. Remove the coating roller from the top of the fuser unit to reveal the orange fuser rollers underneath. Check to see if any paper/transparency has become wrapped around the fuser rollers or jammed in or above the fuser unit itself. Since some paper jams can be very difficult to see with the fuser installed, remove the fuser and check for paper/transparency jams under the unit as well. A jam in that area can cause 993 errors. If there is no media jam and the error remains after the printer is restarted, try replacing the Oil Coating Roller (OCR). The OCR comes with the black toner cartridge. (It can also be purchased separately. Click here to do so.) If the error remains after the OCR has been replaced. If that does not help I would highly recommend taking it back to the place you bought it from
