If left overnight, will drain when next turned on, so is capable of draining. Just that when washing, it will not go to next part of cycle, that is "draining", and water keeps sloshing around the machine for ages. Thanks for any help.
Problem solved! Dishwasher was actually stuck on drain cycle and was just sloshing water around the machine. I was able to get it to drain by lowering water level by emptying most of water with a cup. I then disconnected drain hose under sink and blew through it - much gurgling etc of water in dishwasher, but after reconnecting the hose I pushed start button and machine drained straight away. Then called serviceman from phone book and he disconnected drain hose, made sure it wasn't blocked then reinstalled it WITHOUT the loop in the hose that was up and down the side of the machine. in other words the drain hose now goes straight out the back of the machine from the pump, direct to the kitchen sink drain. Guess what, it now works. Apparently the new pump didn't like the routing of the old hose. i also installed new pressure switch and had circuit board reconditioned, so everything is working well.
