Hmm. Have you done anything that could have messed up the software? If not, then back up the data from your memory stick onto the computer, then format the memory stick. It should work then.

My son psp beep when you put a game in and the umd does not come up can you help please

f you are experiencing issues when using a Universal Media Disc (UMD™) on the PSP system, try these troubleshooting options:

  • Issues with PlayStation®Store content Click here for help with content purchased from the PlayStation Store.
  • Restore Default Settings Restore Default settings will default the PSP system to its original settings. A setting change may be the reason the PSP system is having difficulties. Click here to learn how to restore default settings on the PSPgo / PSP system.
  • Confirm UMD is properly inserted

Make sure the UMD is properly inserted with the label facing the back of the PSP system. Try removing the UMD and reinserting it.
Please note, it is normal for the PSP system to make noises while it is reading from a UMD.

For PSP-1001, slide the latch to open the UMD door. For the PSP-2001 and PSP-3001, simply lift the door open.

  • Try playing the UMD on a different PSP system If possible, try playing the UMD on a different PSP system. If the disc still does not function properly, it might need to be replaced. If the disc does function properly, the PSP system may need service, see PSP Service for details.
  • Try playing a different UMD on the PSP system If possible, try playing a different UMD on the PSP system. If another UMD plays, the original UMD may be the problem. If none of the UMD's play, the problem may be isolated to the PSP system.
  • Check for moisture Do not let the PSP system or any PSP® accessories come in contact with liquid. Also check for moisture condensation in the PSP system. If moisture condensation occurs, remove the disc from the PSP and do not use the PSP until the condensation has evaporated, which can take an hour or two. In general, if any part of the PSP gets wet, discontinue use until it is completely dry.
  • Check the regional code Check the regional code on the UMD™ Video. The only regional codes that the North American PSP® is tested to work properly with are "ALL" and "1.

Tried these steps and still need help?

If you have tried the troubleshooting information above, but continue to experience problems, please contact our Consumer Services department to have your PSP system serviced.

My psp will not play Movies Games, or any installed Software

When you put the game in, there is a latch inside the back of the psp where you insert the game, at the bottom the psp, that when you put the game in, it tells the psp that a game has been inserted and to load the game. When you put the game in, look and see if you see a silver latch that the game should push. If you see it, make sure the game is pushing down on it when inserted. If it is not there, or it still does not work, you will need to get it serviced at a game store or at a shop.

I want to load a game to my new PSP with 1gb memory stick

  1. Slide the open latch on the top of the PSP? system. The disc cover opens.
  2. Insert the UMD? with the disc label facing the system rear. Slide the UMD? down the metal guides and press down until fully inserted. You should hear a slight click, indicating that the UMD? is held in place.
  3. Close the disc cover.

the Latch your looking for looks like this

PSP

When the football hit the psp, it could have knocked some hardware out of place, possibly on the motherboard. If you know what you are doing, you could open up the PSP and re attach the piece, or find someone who knows how to fix it.
