When we switch on the TV the red light flashes for a while then nothing happens. The only way we have found to turn on the tv then is to pull out the power cable at the back and push it back in again. The red light then flashes for a while and the tv comes on. This doesn't happen every time we switch on the tv - it seems to be random - sometimes it works first time, othe times it doesn't.

Hi John, TV going off in thirty seconds and red light blinking means there is something wrong inside your Tv and it should not be working in this condition and hence is the "going off" happening. The automatic protection inside is switching your tv off. Please consult some local TV tech. There is nothing you can do about it yourself. Good Luck.
How many red flashes? Mine is flashing twice every 5 seconds and ended up getting a tv engineer to have a look. He has confirmed a faulty transformer approx. £120 to replace
The red flashing light is the service code. My guess is the power supply is bad now, but it could be something else. If the TV is under warranty, take it in and get if fixed. If it is not, then you may try to check the power supply first. Count the flashes of the red light and check online for the issues when this model flashes, 4 times or 6 times... or 9 times, etc.
Hi to all, My 42" Panasonic plasma have the same problem. It turned itself off and now red light flashes 7 times, than after short pause 7 times again. And so on. Any ideas what is wrong??
