That shows a leaking water seal. Water would run into the motor bearings which then rust and make noise. You probably need the motor / pump kit.

There is a loud noise while going through final stages of wash. Sounds like pump motor whineing.

Hello

When an appliance such as a dishwasher starts making a new noise, you need to isolate the cause of the noise so that you know whether or not it is damaging the machine. Several things can cause a noisy dishwasher.

Motor

Dishwashers are driven by an internal motor that gets quite noisy when defective. The problem occurs when a seal breaks down and allows water to access the bearings in the motor, removing the grease needed for proper lubrication and creating a loud motor noise when the dishwasher runs. The seal or bearings need to be replaced in this situation quickly or more extensive damage to the motor may occur.

Inlet Valve

If the inlet valve on your dishwasher is broken or breaking, you will hear a distinctive thumping or clattering noise whenever a load is run. A thumping noise doesn't always indicate this problem, however, depending on when you hear it. If you hear a noise like this when the water is filling up the dishwasher at the start of the cycle, the noise likely points to an inlet valve problem.

Squealing

A high-pitched squealing noise is an indication that something is wrong with the fan. Fan bearings that are worn out indicate that the fan apparatus needs to be replaced. If the noise you're hearing is in fact coming from the fan, it will only occur when the dishwasher is drying the dishes. Dishwashers use a fan to generate and distribute heat to dry the dishes quickly.

Minor Concerns

Sometimes even a minor concern can cause a great deal of noise. The thing to watch for is whether or not the noise repeats itself on multiple loads. A loud noise on a single load that doesn't repeat could be caused by things like a loose utensil or small implement rattling around loose in the dishwasher. Also inspect the bottom of your dishwasher. Hardened bits of old food can become rock hard under the heat in the dishwasher and cause noise when the unit runs.

A noise had been gradually increasing from a grinding sound to a high-pitched whine. COntinues until the screen is completely off. Sounds like a fan motor may be out of lubrication.

THAT TV HAS WHAT IS CALLED A COLOR WHEEL WHICH SPINS AT VERY HIGH RPMS AND CAN MAKE HIGH PITCHED WHINING/GRINDING NOISES IF A FAN WAS BAD THE TV WOULD SHUTDOWN AND THE SOUND WOULD BE MORE DULL SOUNDING.

My maytag model no.mav4755aww makes a whinning sound at the beginning of the spin cycle

Hi
Drum bearing failure is common when the bearing seals start allowing water to enter. You can take the belt off and spin the drum by hand, and if the drum rumbles, replace the bearings.Since you hear whining it means that the bearing is damaged and the seals on bearing are gone too so it rotates without lubricant. It might be possible to hear whining while you rotate empty drum manually...
Turn the drum by hand and listen for loud noises. If the drum itself is split or the 'spider' is corroded, broken or has come apart from the back of the drum it will create a loud noise on every turn of the drum. When the bearings have gone bad, the noise is constant the entire time the drum is spinning.
Take the belt off and run the motor alone if you hear a high pitched squealing noise to check for motor bearing damage or wear. If you still hear the noise without the belt, it's the motor bearing. Then replacing the bearing is suggested.
Let us know if you want something more else accept the solution.

Our LG LDF7920st dishwasher (6 months old)makes a whistling noise

Hey, consider the float assembly!

We bought this dishwasher and ran it for the last 1 1/2 months and it made a grinding and whistling sound from day one (it's supposed to be nearly silent in its operation). Turns out the drain pump was cutting in while the machine was still filling, thereby emptying the wash tub of any water. Then, when the cycle proceeded to wash, the dumb thing had no water and made a horrible noise. So I had to pitch in at least 2-3 litres of hot water, and then it worked quietly! Had to do this every time there was new water intake.

After working with the repairmen - four visits later, we isolated the float assembly as the problem and they set about replacing the part. Turns out the two parts were markedly different. LG HAD INSTALLED an older model float assembly at the factory and it was the problem. The replacement part was the correct float assembly and things worked perfectly after that - thank goodness. No more babysitting the dishwasher.

Don't let anyone tell you the motor assembly needs replacement. I have seen that cop-out 'fix' all over the web. But use deductive reasoning to find out where the problem is in the cycle, and explore this option first - it's a quicker and cheaper fix than replacing the whole motor assembly.

'Mr. Float' as he is now called works like this:
-expels any residual water in the tub from the last wash
-intakes water for the wash or rinse
-whirs 2-3 times prepping for the cycle
-begins to wash, quietly
-expels at the end of the wash or rinse.

He used to:
-expel residual water
-intake new water for wash or rinse
---drain pump would cut in WHILE still filling
-machine would whir once, realize it didn't have enough water
-perform a brief top-up intake shot
-begin to wash and whistle and GRIND (this is where I would have to add the water)
-expels water from wash or rinse, and start all over again.

It's a good dishwasher and it will work, but the right model parts have to be in place!

Dishwasher Making Loud High Pitched Noise.

A loud high pitch whine while running the dishwasher means that there is something caught in the chopper assembly. To get to the chopper assembly you need to take the racks out and take the pump apart from the inside of the dishwasher. The chopper assembly looks like a metal grate with holes in it. And it might not even be stuck in the grate but somewhere in the pump area due to the water being pumped out, so the best idea is to take the whole thing apart and clean everywhere. However I do not recommend doing this unless you are completely certain you will remember where the screws and gaskets go, otherwise you risk damaging your pump or house from a leak or improper installation. You have been warned.
