My Samson C01U microphone doesnt seem to be working. the green light doesnt turn on when i plug it into the usb port of my computer. I have windows vista. Is it not compatible?? The computer says the device is enabled but there are no bars moving up and down on the screen display showing that the mic is working. What to do??

It is compatible with Windows Vista.

Have you tried increasing the gain?

This has also happened to me. The cable has randomly stopped supplying power. Please help, admins!! It isn't BROKEN is it?

Sorry this isn't a solution but just letting you know I'm having the same trouble, the funny thing is mine was working a couple of months back and now its not, it's driving me crazy.

Sounds like a defective mic. Test it on another computer, with another USB cable, and if it still doesn't work, call customer service and they'll send a replacement.

I have a samson c01u and using audacity. i set the input level in the control panel to 100 and also in audacity, but the the volume is still too low. i can barely hear my voice. what do i do?
1. Did you select Left channel only in Audacity for the track you're recording?
2. Maybe it's a defective mic. Try it on another computer/software/USB cable/USB port and if it still doesn't work get Samson to replace it.

When I started my computer (Windows 7 64 bit) my microphone (Samson C01u) was muted (like you change microphone volume from 100 to 10). I always had volume set on 50 and there wasn't a problem but now...
you more than likely have your settings messed up follow this video it should fix the problem

A condenser mic. requires "phantom power" usually supplied by a mixing desk. Without this, there will be no output signal from the mic.

Note: Samson SoftPre is not compatible with Windows Vista however the C01U, C03U and Q1U are all Plug-and-Play compatible with Windows Vista.

1.using different usb inputs on your pc desk top
2.update drivers on both your desk top and laptop
3.using a different usb cable

if it works fine on your friends computer most likely its not the mic
