Can you check to show whether your wireless adapter is showing up in Device Manager? (Go to Control Panel if you don't know where to find Device Manager) Your wireless card should show up under Network Adapters. If it does not, check your unidentified devices for "Unidentified NIC" or something like that.
If you do see it as an unidentified device, visit the HP site's support section to download the latest drivers for it.
If it is listed in the correct section, make sure it is enabled by right clicking its name and selecting enable. (This option will not be visible if it is already enabled)
If it is identified and enabled, try to uninstall and reinstall HP Wireless Assistant.
If none of those work, you may have a hardware issue and you should gather your warranty and support information and give HP a call.
You may do WoL if your Lan adapter (cable or wireless) has the capability. Check DeviceAdministration/Select network card/Properties/Advanced I was not able to WoL through Atehros 9285 wireless on my Asus Laptop
is your laptop not finding the router at all
or is it finding it but not connecting to it
have you enabled the wireless switch on your laptop
i believe the wireless switch is down on the bottom left of the laptop
and it has to be slid over to the right to enable it
here is a link which has a user guide also a ytube video on how to set it up
Hello, have a look in 'Network Connections' at the 'wireless connection' settings and see if it has been set to 'disabled'
If so, re-enable it and it should work.
If you don't see a 'wireless connection' icon, then maybe you don't have the wireless driver installed.

You don't need HP wireless assistant. You can remove it and enable windows zero wireless configuration to manage your wireless signal. Easier, and less complicated. Message me back to get instructions.
if you don't know your security code, then you will need to reset the router (Use the reset button on the back) then you should be able to connect wireless unsecured. from that point you can type the default gateway IP address (192.168.1.1) in the address line of internet explorer, this will open the web interface of the router (Leave username blank, admin for password) then you can re-enable wireless security and pick a new code (I recommend an old 10 digit phone number you can easily remember but hard for others to guess)
Sometimes if you disable the wireless from HP wireless assistance then it will not get enable even if you try to start it from the switch. So first check that the wireless is on from HP wireless assistance. This kind of issue come most of the time when drivers are corrupted or not installed correctly. Please perform the below steps to get the issue resolved. I don?t know the exact OS installed on your laptop, however you can check the link below and click on the appropriate OS and you will get the latest BIOS update and drivers available for your laptop. But perform the below steps first in order. ø Check - wlan autoconfig is enabled under services list (run>services.msc) ø Enable HP wireless assistant. ø Check - wireless card is installed in Device Manager. ø Check whether the computer is able to detect the wireless networks in range to ensure wireless LED is not defective. ø Update wireless driver and BIOS. ø Reseat wireless card Link for updating the drivers and BIOS. http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=449878&taskId=135&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=449877&lang=en&cc=us Plz write back with current OS ,if you get any problem in doing above steps.
Depending upon which brand laptop it is, there may be a button on the bottom of the laptop which will enable the WiFi services onthat laptop. HP has this feature and if you don;t know it is there, you cannot connect to a wireless network.
Check it out.
