Reinstalled canoscan LIDE 200 on pc after we did a format its a Twain everything works except the toolbox when i try to scan a pdf says something about changing it to Twain we have uninstalled and reinstalled a few times. how can i fix this .. is Twain something to do with winxp or the scanner itself.I don't have it here with me but it says something about Twain being missing

Twain is the scanner interface program on the computer. Something is missing from the install or the XP system software. Double check to make sure you're installing an XP-compatible version of the scanner software. The program for newer versions of Windows likely assumes the presence of some software components that may not be there in XP unless the install program puts them in. Without those missing pieces, Twain won't load properly.

Same problem here (MX700 scanner, using MP Navigator EX). It really is a pain, isn't it?

Maybe you instal wrong driver ?
try to reinstall windows, if still same error, your webcam maybe broken.Thx

Can't copy or scan on canoscan lide 25

You need to install the software drivers You need BOTH programs installed on your PC, Toolbox & Scangear. Also use the driver remover first. Then unplug scanner, reboot, install Scangear first, and toolbox second, then reboot, when at desktop next time, plug in the Scanner. Hopefully it should be all good. Error message cannot find twain source and toolbox

Have you tried deleting the scanner from add/remove hardware under control panel? If not, try disconnecting it from the computer, then try deleting it, then retry the install one more time.

Try going to CanoScan Toolbox > Settings and reset the 'defaults' button at bottom... this will restore factory settings and hopefully fix your problem... The other error message you can expect to get is "unable to scan - insufficent memory, check your **** space' (or something similar)... same fix works for both! ...Have had both messages on mine, sounds like a semi-regular conflict on some sort, but seems to be easily fixed. Good luck :-)

Unable to select TWAIN source

tried uninstallin and installin canon scanner drivers..nothing works..still seeing unable to select twian source..

so i tried an alternative..here we go..
on vista 64 os/vista any version..click Start>All programs>Windows fax and scan

next click new scan on top and that got me going.

some say there are issues with the way usb talks to old scanners with new operating systems like mine (vista 64). hope it helps until you find the actual cure.

Your post for CanoScan LiDE 25

Hi there, yes I did everything per your instructions, Toolbox is installed and it still says, "release the lock switch, detach I/F cable and reconnect. Scanner driver will be closed" and then after clicking on that it says "Unable to open TWAIN source. Please check connection then restart toolbox" I have been to the Canon site and downloaded driver sites and it says everything is working. but when I go to scan it comes up with the boxes I said before. Quite lost at the moment? Thanks Maureen. PS I have unstalled and reinstalled

Canon scanner

TWAIN is the type of scanner driver that is used for this scanner. It is probably the most common type of scanning driver.

Did you install Toolbox? Not sure? Assuming this is Windows, click Start, All Programs, Canon. Look for open CanoScan Toolbox (4.9 I think). Once this is open, click the 'Settings' button. There should be a drop-down menu for 'Select Scanner'. Make sure this shows the CanoScan LiDE 25. If that scanner is not listed, then the scanner driver is not being seen or may not be installed.

Once it has been verified that the LiDE 25 is selected, click OK. Next, click the 'Save' button. Check the box for 'Display the Scanner Driver'. Now click the 'Scan' button at the bottom.
The next window that pops up should be ScanGear. If this happens, then everything is installed and the scanner is being detected properly. Attempt to scan or preview.

Lock Switch and IF cable

Mine was doing the same thing. When I get on the program, before I click "acquire" to preview and scan, I click OFF the toolbox and then everything seems to be okay and I can go ahead and scan.
