Issues with "No Signal Input Check Video Cable" on old monitor

Hanns G HW191D
max reso
note useless for super common 1080P resol.

mon2-undefined-undefined-0.jpg the PC if smarter would scan the old monitor and set to top of my list and work. VESA DDC2B<< Plug and Pray.
that hanns was sold at vga only and vga/dvi
if yours is 2 ports
see page 14 in your manual

HW191D:
Select the ?INPUT SETTING? option to change between analog
(VGA) or Digital (DVI) source. Enter the option and select
Analog or Digital.
[Dual input mode optional

the PC (secret) in the BIOS has rule on
onboard video ports
and PCI-express cards how they work
most today are fixed at auto selection. (video, but...)
so if PCI card is there it wins every time and local VGA goes dead
in the olden days 2000 , we had to set it there to what we wanted.

my wild guess:
1: desktop has video card
2:laptop you forgot to RTM and pust the FN+xx kes.
that FN key, well show,( vga, LCD local , auto , both)
see how that works, RTM read the secret PC manaul.
some PCs (desk) can have 2 vga jacks ,1 card, and main on case)
the card always wins

badcompanyx, Your unit is in need of warranty work or servicing by a qualified electronics technician. Possible bad "intermittant solder connection on "switch-mode-power-supply"/"CCFL inverter supply" and or BAD "faulty" electrolytic filter capacitors that need replacing. 12fixlouie

Hanns-G HW191D LCD - Image there, just not bright! Monitor looks black

There is a flourescent light that backlights the screen. If your screen brightness control will not make the screen any brighter, then the backlight has stopped working. You will either have to replace that light or replace the monitor.

First, flip the switch for your power surge protector, to see if that resolves. Then, test the monitor on another computer and see if it works. If the monitor still doesn't work, look for another one. Hope that helps.

EARPHONES NOT ABLE TO PLUG INTO MONITOR.

Hi, I hope you've solved the problem.  But if the first solution does not work for you maybe this one will.

I looked at the specs for your monitor. LINE IN is for plugging in a device that makes sound, so this is not the right hole (called a jack) for the headphones plug.  Look on the back of your computer for a hole that is outlined with light green.  You wrote that you removed " the audio wire that connects the monitor to the CPU", this would be the place to plug in the headphones.
