Question about Kenmore Dishwashers

Talking about a kenmore 665.16389300 dishwasher. the "normal wash" button is blinking, but none of the other buttons seem to work and the cleaning cycle will not start when i press the "start" button. any ideas?

Open the door. Within 3 seconds press the following sequence --Try pressing normal wash, heated dry, normal wash, heated dry, normal wash, heated dry three times within 6 seconds and then press cancel to reset the dishwasher. If that doesn't help then try pressing Saini Rinse, Heated Dry, Saini Rinse, Heated Dry, Saini Rinse, Heated Dry or Saini Rinse, Air Dry, Saini Rinse, Air Dry, Saini Rinse, Air Dry 3 times in 6 seconds and then the Cancel Button. Close the door and press Cancel.
Blinking lights would stop and should be able to use your dishwasher normally. If the light is still blinking try and reset the power to the dishwasher and try again. If still the light is blinking then check for the connections on the keypad, it may be due to moisture or shorted connections on keypad. Hope this helps... Unlock your Kenmore dishwasher control panel by pressing and holding the "Heated Dry" button for four seconds.

Press a series of four buttons in quick succession. Press "Heated Dry," "Normal Wash," "Heated Dry" and "Normal Wash" to instruct your Kenmore dishwasher to run a short diagnostic test.

Then you have to wait 2 minutes while your Kenmore dishwasher runs its diagnostic test.

Then press the "Cancel/Drain" button once your dishwasher has completed its diagnostic test. This should reset your dishwasher control panel and stop any lights from blinking.

Sounds like the washer CPU is defective, have it diagnosed by a local repair technician.

Hi

Open the door. Most likely a defective control panel issue.

follow the below instructions:

Unlock your Kenmore dishwasher control panel by pressing and holding the "Heated Dry" button for four seconds.

Press a series of four buttons in quick succession. Press "Heated Dry," "Normal Wash," "Heated Dry" and "Normal Wash" to instruct your Kenmore dishwasher to run a short diagnostic test

Wait for two minutes while your Kenmore dishwasher runs its diagnostic test.

Press the "Cancel/Drain" button once your dishwasher has completed its diagnostic test. This should reset your dishwasher control panel and stop the "Clean" light from blinking repeatedly.

Normal wash light blinking, d/w wont start

Wish I could solve this, as I'm having the same problem too. Normal light blinks not matter which wash button is pressed. Cancel light will light, but still NOTHING happens. Same model as yours.

I suspect for either of these units that the timer control boards are bad.

Kenmore Ultra Wash Dishwasher - Blinking Quick Rinse Light

I had the same flashing light problem first the normal wash flashing light then the others. I tried shuting of the breakers but nothing. I tried resetting the panel by pushing normal wash and heated dry simultaneously and nothing. So I took the six screws holding the front panel out and unplugged the ribbon type wires and plug and unplugged it several times to help make a better contact and I was able to get it to work right away. This may not work for all but I worked for me. It is very easy to do and it's worth a try if you're having the same problem. It took me less then 10 minutes.

On another website, we found a reset code that works for our Kenmore, which I think is the same as yours. Hit Heated Dry, Normal Wash, Heated Dry, Normal Wash (one at a time, within six seconds).
