The information you are providing is insufficient for me to give much help. If you have DVD already connected correctly, you shouldn't have a problem. More detail please

Hi abracadab628my name is Mike Houston of DISH Network and after reading over your post andthere is a simple solution to your recording questions. You can connect you're Phillips/Magnavox DVD/VCR and run it through the DISH Network receiver and set thetimers up on your VCR/DVD player.
You need to select front AV as you video source on the DVD recorder if using the front AV phono connectors. Make sure the lead you use from the VCR is working y connecting the AV leads directly to your TV if possible.
To get the functionality you're looking for you'll need to to take the cable running from your DVR output and connect it to the input on your DVD recorder. Next you want to connect a cable from your DVD recorder output and connect it to your TV. If this is an HD set up you want to use HD Cables for all of the connections.
Look in the back or the front of ur tv have a (Video Audio holes In).Look in ur DVD player in the back or the front have a (video Audio holes Out).Used a component AV video cable hook both devices together.Find the Video Mode in ur tv 1 or 2,now play the DVD player with a dvd disc. Now u should be playing the content of the dvd disc.If u don't have a AV video cable, tries websites like Amazon.com,Ebay.com to buy a set of AV video cable.
If you have HD TV it is best to hook up the DVD player separately.
The easiest way to connect your DVD player with your TV, is to find the cable going from the receiver to the TV and disconnect it from the TV. Connect this cable to the back of the DVD player where it says "in" or "input". Next take another cable and connect it from the DVD player output to the TV. Once you've done this make sure your TV set is tuned to the proper input or source. Your DVD's should play when the receiver is off, however, you'll probably need your DVD player on to get the DISH signal.
The output of the Dish Network box should be hooked to the input of the VCR. The output of the VCR should be hooked to the input of the TV. The VCR should be on channel 3 to record. Select channel to be recorded on the Dish Network box.
It sounds like you have Dish Network box output hooked to TV input. & VCR output hooked to an aux. input on the TV.
My tv has several video inputs & this is the way I did mine. I ran the red, white & yellow cable from the dish box to "video 1" on the tv. For the Magnavox I ran a coax cable from the dish receiver out to the rear of the Magnavox & the red, white, yellow from the magnavox to the tv "video 2". Check the dish box to see if the switch in the back reads channel 3 or 4 & set your magnavox to the same. Make sure in the setup you have it set to rear connections. If you have picture on both video settings on the tv everything is golden. Hope this helps.
try getting an rf modulator, they are about 20 bucks at walmart, i had to do that for my dad, his tv had the hookups but it still wouldn't work. try that you might be able to hook up the dvd, tv, and dish network plugs all in one.
