Canon PowerShot SD3500 IS / IXUS 210 Digital Camera Logo
Posted on May 17, 2011

Hi, I purchased a replacement LCD screen for my SD3500 from Rongstar DigitalInc. Since I've learned they do not have a good reputation and to make matters worse the LCD screen will not function properly. It seems to light a bit and the "touch" seems to cause camera to beep as if the touch screen were working, but no images or "scene to take" is viualized ion the screen. As I said only a faint lighting ( appears to be black as if no light coming off it) . Help! I am sure it is connected correctly. Have you heard of this problem before ??

I had a similar problem with a Canon camcorder. I replaced it with a new LCD screen from Rongstar Digital, and it works! Saved a $350 camera for $20! However, installing the new LCD was very difficult, and is not meant to be done by amateurs. You have to be sure the tiny connectors and screws are placed exactly right and in the right order. Don't blame the seller if it does not work!

SOURCE: Canon Powershot has black LCD screen

Best Solution worked for me?!?!?. Not sure if following the instructions got the screen to come back, but it did come back. I just flipped it over to movie messed with the settings and then open up the battery door which turned off the camera. Closed the door, Flipped to photo and turned it back on and it workd. This is the second PowerShot that I have had, current SD750 and an old S230, to do this.

There is a temporary fix that works sometimes but eventually it will stop working alltogether. If canon can't help, might try this:

I used to have that, try pressing the DISP. button when the camera is in picture mode. The black screen should go away. That's how i solved the problem when i had it.

Where to get a cheap LCD screen replacement?

Try eBay. Do a search for Dell Inspiron Mini 1012 screen You will get results from $36 and up. I've never dealt with any of these particular sellers, but most of them have great reviews and I have used replacement screens for others computers that I purchased on eBay.

Hi.

On page 81 of your manual it says to adjust your LCD screen brightness.

If you can't find your manual... go here and download it.

46in Vizio LCD HDTV distorted black picture when tv is turned on

Hi There are three things that can cause this problem. Your lcd screen, t-con board or the signal board. Most likelly in your case since you say it's only half the screen it's going to be your t-con board. You can try removing it and cleaning all the contacts and replacing it see if that helps. If that doesn't help then replace it. If that does not solve it then it's going to be your screen.

You can get parts at www.interliquidparts.com

I've seen this problem time and time again. Replacing the inverter fixed it every time. HOWEVER it could always be the CCFL backlight as well. Both fortunately are VERY inexpensive. Changing the inverter is easy but the CCFL will be a little harder. Take your time and remember how to put it all back together and you'll save that $100. I'm sure it's either of those two that's causing the backlight issues. NO NEED to change the entire LCD.

I have a Videocon 42"

Hi,

Are all of the functions still working on the TV? If so, then the good news is that it's simply a bad screen, but the bad news is that replacement screens are impossible to come by unless you are an Authorized repair center for Proton. The only option you have is to replace the TV, or contact a shop.

From what I've found out, Protron and Spectroniq are the same company. I just visited the Protron web site and it has not been updated since 2007. I believe the company is no longer in business and will doubt if you will find a Protron Service Center. You are very lucky to find a repair shop that will attempt to work on the TV, most will not. The internet is plagued with issues with this TV. Even the cost of the screen would not be worth repair.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Hi I am from the Philippines. I have a ASUS G1S-X1. While I was working my screen went black. I suspected of a defect on the video card. I tried to to boot my laptop, I can here the sound of booting but on...

I've seen this problem a few times with laptops my family/co-workers have. If it's like their problem, you should be able to plug in an external monitor and see on the screen. If that works, it's either your LCD screen or your LCD backlight inverter...One of the ways to tell whether it's one or the other is try to shine a bright light directly at the screen. If you can see anything on the screen, it means it's the backlight inverter. If it's still completely black, it's your lcd screen. Both can be replaced fairly easily, just be sure to look really well, because if you purchase the (more expensive) LCD screen, replace it, and still have the problem, you'll need to do the backlight inverter anyway. You can typically find instructions for replacing them online somewhere.

When plugging in the external monitor, wait for a while to see if it will boot to your desktop, then if there's nothing on the screen look at your keyboard. There should be a button on there to swap projection modes (usually have to hit fn+f5). Try hitting that a few times just to be sure. If you still can't see anything on the monitor, it doesn't mean it's not necessarily a software issue. Download/burn a live CD (any linux version will work) and try booting from that to rule out any possible software issues.

HI there,
it sounds like you've inadvertently broken your LCD screen. These are fairly cheap to replace:

Although not for the non tech savvy. If you can't do it yourself, seek a local electronic repair shop and have them do it for you.
