SOURCE: Lexmark X1185 (print trio) does not scan or copy since upgrading to Vista
I had the same problem. Fixed it by reinstalling the drivers for the motherboard (USB drivers in particular). Hope this helps.

SOURCE: problem in scanner when scan
Try adding the scanner's IP address in the scnhosts file in the TWAIN folder. Format is similar to the windows hosts file. You'll see a commented out sample entry, just modify that to suit your needs.
This may or may not work for you; we had it working under this configuration but then it stopped for no apparent reason. also note that scanrouter isn't supported under vista. Only advice I've been given so far is to revert to sending scans via SMTP - not ideal!

Please download the scan driver from support.lexmark.com. After installing the scan driver, please check the scanner under Imaging Device from device manager. If scanner shows under imaging devices, open the scanning program and scan a document.
